Will Fallout 4 have a pre-load?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 2:49 am

After looking at yesterdays announcement, I have a question. Will Fallout 4 have a pre-load, so that I can have it downloaded before it is released? I have really bad internet and have already pre ordered on Steam.

I think Skyrim did a pre-load. For a release as big as Fallout 4, which is already bouncing around in the top 3 bestselling slots on Steam weeks before it's release, Valve probably desperately NEEDS to do a pre-load, so Fallout 4 fans don't bring Steam to its knees at 12am on Nov. 10th.

Lol agreed. Steam will definitely have a pre-load. Not sure about GoG or any other pc platforms however, but still more than likely.

What about consoles though? As far as I'm aware, Steam gets ALOT more pre-loads before release than consoles have.

I mean, i would assume so. Considering Zenimax did with ESO and with the "28.blahblahblah GB" showing up on my XBOX store.

But i mean, its happened before and its abit of a "[censored] you" from the devs sometimes..

Had a thread on this yesterday I think. No new information has come to light, but it stands to reason that a game this big will have a preload, and New Vegas and Skyrim had it before aswell.

I would say yes just because it's been confirmed to have it on the PS4.

It's 28GB and has a planned 12:01 a.m. EST unlock time, so I'd be shocked if there wasn't one. There will be one, no doubt about it.

12 AM EST? Serious?

It wasn't like that for Skyrim. It unlocked at 1 PM in your current timezone, so you had people changing their download locations to places like Japan and Australia where 1 PM had already passed. It was technically against the Steam TOS somewhere, im not sure if people got busted for it, but a lot of people turned off their internet until it unlocked in their timezone.

And then there's the whole fiasco with some Russian players being able to break street date really easy, then there was this Mang guy who bought a copy at a store that broke it a week before and he made a LP of it without even realizing that it wasn't released yet...

If you have a source for that id love to see it, although its very easy for me to believe that they're going to do that considering how messy the unlocking was last time.
