GUYS
...

Everyone knows the intro scene is just a falsely implanted memory of your family that never existed. The institute was experimenting on you and has a chip in you to monitor your actions and push you towards a specific purpose. You never had a family and were put into the vault as part of the cover story. You are not 200 years old but were born 30 years ago.

Codsworth is used by the institute to reinforce your memories and fortify the false narrative.

Realizing your allies are actually not good people when they try to kill your son then going out in a blaze of glory to save him and doing post game as him with all your accumulated stats.
