Plan your character

How do you plan to have your character start off?

I've recently found this website: http://vault111.com/

Which basically seems to allow you to plan your character in full (Although it is missing some perks, not sure if it hasn't updated them or if they haven't been released yet). If you have any superior alternatives to this sight feel free to link them but I enjoy this ones interface, and the fact that you can save your character.

What special stats will you be using?

What are the first 5 perks you will be picking up in your playthrough?

I'm still in the planning process, but so far I've come up with;
S: 4 (Not sure how weapon handling will work so I bumped this from 3 to 4 in case rifles or snipers require 4 strength)

P: 4 (For the lock picking skill)

E: 3 (To maintain a decent health)

C: 4 (Lone wander perk and Attack dog)

I: 6 (For what I assume are the creating your own guns and energy weapons)

A: 4

L: 3

I plan to pick up Gun Nut (Weapon customization?), Sneak, Lockpick, commando, and Attack dog/Lone wander ASAP

You guys?

Here goes

S: 8

P: 4

E: 4

C: 4

I: 4

A: 2

L: 2

Perks

LvL 1: Scrounger (want loads of ammo and soon)

LvL 2: Fortune Finder

LvL: 3 Attack Dog

LvL: 4 WeaponSmith (can build melee attachments for guns)

LvL: 5 Defender (strengthens melee attacks with guns, cant understand why this is a strength 8 perk >< )

From there pick up lockpicking and hacking. Pick up a heavy weapon later and hopefully by then I have more ammo than I need.

Notes: It seems to me that the Perk "Big Leagues" should incorporate melee attacks when armed with a gun...? If that turns out to be the case than I'll take a 4 STR and put those 4 points anywhere else. Honestly I'm still mulling over the build cause I don't want to try melee attacking with a heavy weapon it doesn't make sense to me. So I might just go with a 4 STR and just make a bayonet for a assault riffle.

P: 4 (For the lock picking skill)

This is as far as I got. I am a completist, so I want to do eveything. I guess high Int is next.

What I wonder about is Endurance. Will I have the same hp given the following 2 scenarios:

1) Start at End 10, and get up to level 10

2) Start at End 1, and raise End on each level-up until level 10.

If they are the same, then I don't have to make End 10 to start with.

Since I am over-thinking it, maybe start at end 9, so the End bubblehead does not go to waste.

S 1

P 5

E 2

C 5

I 6

A 6

L 3

I'll probably take Science! and Explosives Expert right of the bat. I like Energy Weapons and Explosives.

Well, let's see... They're married, have a baby, are from when the bombs fell. Oh crap, it's already planned for me. This is not a roleplaying game if all of that is established.

Looks like a nice site. I haven't given it too much thought on how I want to build my character yet.

Never used the site yet, but I have a starting stat build in mind.

S 3
P 3
E 6
C 3
I 3
A 6
L 3

Embracing the hinted ex soldier background, lone wanderer, gun nut etc.

Edit as for my first 5 perk points, well nothing detailed is planned, so in no particular order: bump int up to four, buy the first rank in both the lockpicking/pickpocket perk, one in the hacking perk, a rank in lone wanderer and one in rifleman.

So far I've come up with..

2

7 or 6*

2

3

6

5 or 6*

3

* = {these will depend on what resonance and avoidance ultimately do.}

This is still pretty far away from all the perks I'll eventually want to have but it seems to be the build with the least amount of points to get there... However, this build also allows me to start building a really good thief type character right off the bat.. which will give me plenty of time and resources until I get to all those other perks I'll need to make me into an sniper type character. A good sniper seems to be one of the tougher type characters to build.

I'm still thinking it over. My characters tend to be expert gunmen, both knowing how to shoot and how to repair any firearm they come across. However, there are several Charisma perks that look pretty good. Also kleptomania

This will be for my first character and will likely change when I finally see what all of the perks actually do.

Plan a sneaky energy weapons focused character who will deal devastating critical damage. Trying to replicate a play style I did in Fallout 3 where I would sneak up on enemies and deal awesome critical damage with the Metal Blaster. High Intelligence to have access to what I hope is a variety of useful technical perks, and of course energy weapon modifications (must make me a plasma shotgun!). High Agility for the sneaking, VATS, and whatever can make my character a bit more agile. Just enough Luck to hit Better Criticals. And enough Perception for some lockpicking benefits.

This is bound to change if the Perception perks don't seem as beneficial as I thought, and those two points put into Perception will be put into Luck so I will be able to hit Grim Reaper's Sprint right off the bat. But regardless, the more I play, the more I plan on increasing some of the attributes through the training perk and eventually get Luck to 8 from Grim Reaper's Sprint anyway, Agility to 10 for that Gun Fu perk because it sounds useful enough. Not sure about increasing Intelligence considering its just this unknown I9 perk and Nerd Rage which was a useless perk in previous games, so who knows what its like here if it is I10. And getting Perception to 4 for lockpicking benefits.

But the top five perks I will probably invest in first will be:

1. Sneak (For sneaking, duh)

2. Action Boy (For VATS)

3. Better Criticals (For Critical hit damage)

4. Science! (For modifying and improving energy weapons)

5. Hacker or Pickpocket (To gain access to certain areas)

These perks govern most of the basics for my character's play style, but like I've already said, bound to change when I see what they really are. But even still, who knows what level requirements will be in the way when choosing all of these perks. Yes, I've planned a lot but only because I just that excited to experience this new character system.

Even after reading the perk chart, I'm still having a difficult time determining the points I will add to each SPECIAL.

S- 3
P- 4 or 5
E- 4 or 5
C- 4, 5, or 6
I- 4
A- 6
L- 1 or 2

The only ones I'm set with are Strength, Intelligence, and Agility. With Intelligence, It is essential that I have the Hacker perk. I'm willing to lower Strength to a 3 because the Strong Back perk isn't as important now. Mainly because the Lone Wanderer perk (it's the rank 3 perk under Charisma) will give you the extra carry weight you'll need. To me, Agility is the most important SPECIAL this go around. I just HAVE to get the rank 5 Action Boy (for additional AP), and I'm just dying to try that rank 6 Dodger perk.

With Perception, I'll probably leave it at a 4 (Lockpick). Wish I could add an extra point so that I could get Demolition Expert at rank 5 (I love me some explosives!) but I'll just have to be patient and wait.

When I look at the Endurance, I am really intrigued by that Marine Boy perk at rank 5. I'm assuming it'll allow you to swim deeper underwater and find hidden locations. But again I may not have enough points to give. Hopefully, I can find an Endurance bobblehead or something...

I suspect Charisma is going to be very important in FO4. I know I will at least raise it to a 4. I prefer to raise it to a 6 so that I can get Local Leader (which allows you to build supply lines between settlements) but again I'm short a point or 2. Aaaaargh..!

Luck isn't very important to me. In my mind, I make my own luck! I had Luck at a 2 but I may just drop it to a 1 and add that point to Charisma or Endurance.

Top 5 perks:

1) Action Boy (an absolute must for me. Important for VATS)
2) Commando
3) Hacker
4) and 5) Attack Dog, Lockpicking, Sneak
