Interesting bug. I can't say I ever had him talk about things out of order with me, and I was on console at the time.
I would put the blame on the bug rather than Three Dog himself as a person/entity.

yeah i realy disliked his "fighting the good fight, from the safe confines of my BoS protected bunker" thing too. He was a coward first, and arogant ass second.
Well i guess so, still i disliked the characters due to his personality. That said i did like the music on GNR so i still listened to it while say in megaton or another city, atleast better then the patriotic nonsense of Enclave Radio (which also had a verry small playlist)
PS: i was on PC
LOL (he nervously laughs as he walks slowly away and slips out of the room hoping he never meets this unstable wanderer in the wastes.)
lol...Just kidding! I get it, Three Dog envy is common in these parts. Again, just kidding...
I felt the same way about the Ghoul with the mustache in Point Lookout. Guy was a jerk who's only redeeming quality was he liked dogs.
Three Dog was a DJ. DJ's are supposed to be spastic big talkers. It would have been boring if he had been toned down. It's a throwback to DJ's of the back when.
Wow i always thought Three Dog was some iconic, beloved character, i always wondered if it was my fault i couldn't stand him. But seeing this thread there seem to be a lot of people who did not like the character that was Three Dog.
Somehow i feel better for that.
To be fair though, Desmond is a jaded veteran pre-war spy who's been playing a "Great Game" with people like Dr. Calvert (some of whom are probably just as crazy) for the past 200 years. He's run out of [censored]s to give.
He's a jerk, but in a way that's somewhat endearing.
Three Dog is just an idiot with a microphone.
Welcome to the club brother. We meet every thursday for punch and doughnuts. And then dance around a fire and burn an effigy of Three Dog.
Although to be fair, this is only a handful of people voicing this dislike for him out of the millions. Then again, I would be surprised if in fact, he (Three Dog) held a popular majority of fans. I found him annoying at first but as I immersed myself into the fallout world, he became an enjoyable part of play though I limited my listening of him to my house radio in Megaton. Wouldn't be able to take him or any DJ for that matter any longer than that.
Three Dog was absolutely awful if you were playing an evil character. I mean, he was annoying even if you were playing a good karma character, but man, evil ones had it rough. One would think it wouldn't be such a good idea to badmouth the man who blew up Megaton, along with a host of other insane misdeeds/feats over the airwaves (especially since said maniac knows where you are ), but I suppose Three Dog was never accused of being the smartest Wastelander out there.
I suppose it made killing him all the more satisfying though. That was my little treat to myself at the end of the playthrough
I hated Three Dog not because of his radio style but because he did nothing but talk about that 'kid' from vault 101 'looking for his daddy' and whatnot.
As to him making you get his radio signal up and running, was I the only player who found Rivet City and Dr. Li before finding Three Dog? By the time I ran across Three Dog, I didn't need his information anymore. He bribed me into helping him with promise of a weapons cache.
You guys realize that a ton of people love 3-dog right? I mean there are mods that extended the playlists, altered up what he said, and even go as far as putting the station in FNV.
I'm always surprised by the Three Dog hate. But, then, I'm always surprised by the Moira hate, and the Heimskr hate, and......
Only thing that bugged me about Three Dog was him calling me out for killing Roy Phillips every single time I see him (after trying the Good Fight the first time, and diplomacy-ing the ghouls into Tenpenny )
Personally, I almost never kill non-hostile NPCs in Bethesda games (well, or any others). In FO3, sometimes I'll resolve the Arefu/Family issue violently, and once in a blue moon I'll kill President Dave. But other than that, I only kill badguys. Raiders, Slavers, Cannibals, Talon Co., Roy Phillips ......
edit: heck, I made a CD out of the music files so I could listen to it in the car, and I tossed in some Three Dog banter so that it's like a radio station.

All that said, I didn't expect to see Three Dog in FO4. And I wouldn't want to. It's a new game, give us new characters.
Seriously [censored] that guy with a pitchfork.
No they won't have Four Dog they will have 2 Dog, based on and voiced by rapper and psychiatric hospital escapee 2 Chainz
I'd like to check out of that hospital as well.
I was no fan of the character either. The second time I played the game I played as a manipulator type character with really high speech so I could convinced him (and Moriarty for that matter) to tell me where Neason was without doing his quest. I talked to him again after I got the info to get the quest anyway but I at least I didn't have to do it.
I liked Moira. A bright optimistic personality in the dreary wasteland was refreshing.
Her quests were also well designed in my opinion. They each had several ways to complete, including a speech option, bonus objectives, and depending on how you finished it the outcome of the whole chain of events was different.
She may have send me on several dangerous missions that she downplayed a bit, she never seemed intent on really getting me killed and would patch me up upon return.
I liked 3 Dog. Not personally, dude was annoying as [censored]. But his over-the-top style was a good soundtrack for the wasteland. After playing for a while it got repetitive but I still appreciated it. Although the game's funniest moment was when you killed him and turned on GNR to hear his assistant whining about it
Piper! She's a journalist, not a DJ, but maybe her stories will get a mention on-air. Diamond City seems like a fairly prominent locale so it would make sense.
Same! Bongo bongo bongo, I don't wanna leave the Congo, oh no no no no! Hoping FO4 has a station just as enjoyable, Mr. New Vegas didn't do it for me. The songs all had such delicious irony... Let's Go Sunning, Butcher Pete, and of course Way Back Home, where the owls are the hootiest. (see avatar - I like owls)
Heimskr. [censored] Heimskr. One time there was a random encounter in the plaza (I can't even think now what it could have been, maybe it was actually the civil war mission) and I used the chaos to discreetly plant an arrow in his head. After the fighting he was just another casualty, lying forgotten in the streets... Whiterun was so sad... but so much quieter. I wasn't even playing an evil character (until later - said character had quite the interesting heel turn) but some crimes are just unforgivable.
Nah he was kind of a manipulative ass who used your situation (searching for father) for his own benefit/ 'the good fight'. Also on one of my play throughs he made fun of me and my ghoul mask, which understandably hurt mah feelings.
Although I must admit it was hilarious after Broken Steel was installed on new games he would randomly give broadcasts about the purifier being up and running and the brotherhood and raising your water glasses even though none of that had happened yet. Awesome glitch IMO.
I would rather hear a radio announcer that sounded decidedly more like they were from the 1950's. The one thing that's always been weird about the fallout universe is that their speech pattern is so modern. I hope that the guy they got to voice over the cartoons is an announcer..
