JSawyer

It has derailed a bit indeed. ^^ But that's something to be expected when there's so much fans and the mere mentioning of other games in the matters of comparisons can touch a certain "chord" in the faithful crowd. But ANYWAYS, come to think of it, I wonder if Bethesda is going to let Jsawyer, or should I say Obsidian, make another New Vegas. If they never let them, then I wonder why they let them create NV in the first place.

Why? He has a point. I truly enjoyed TW3 and played the hell out of it but like all other GTA clones it is has nowhere near the amount of interactivity that a Bethesda game offers. That takes a bit more horsepower and needs must be met. Especially considering the hardware for consoles.

I have played it to completion twice, and Witcher 3's world is mostly static objects. I can't go into a home and pick up the cabbages, or creates of whatever food or drink they have, like I can in TES. Its all glued into the ground, like the cardboard world it is.

Its also not trashing it by any means, its merely pointing out its a different style of game. At no point did I say, or even remotely imply, that Witcher 3, GTA, or Just Cause 2 were worse then Bethesda's games because of it, only that they were different. I really don't see where you are getting this idea that I am trashing any of these games.

I would like to say a few things about TW3 but the moderator was peeking at this thread some moments ago and he was gracious enough to let this thread continue on. The OP is right, we are going off topic fast. I hope FO4 does incorporate some of JSawyer and other FO3/NV mod ideas - which they already have by the looks of the building your custom structure mechanics. I'm really excited about this game and I'm crossing my fingers that when I open my retail boxed version, there won't be a Steam key inside to download the game instead of a physical dvd of the whole game.

If the game requires 30GB of free space, how could that be possible? It would require at least 4 DVDs even when compressed.

Or it could be Blu-Ray, but then it would be listed in system requirements, instead it reads "requires internet connection"

TW3 came with 4 dvd's - one of which was dedicated for the soundtrack. I don't like the idea of downloading full games not only because I like having something physical but also because I've a weak internet connection. I hope Beth doesn't adopt the idea of putting inside their physical boxed version an installer to download the game via Steam or perhaps via their future DRM distribution service which I think is on the horizon.

Maybe I'm not remembering, but did JSawyer.esp even really add any new content to the game? From what I remember, it was just a series of balance tweaks and bugfixes that tied in all of the DLC content, some items and perks (and the level cap), and a bunch of GMSTs to overall make the game much harder, but more fair.

I totally want Fallout 4 to be hard and fair (and if they can find a way to make food and drink important without separate meters tracking my nutrition, I'll do a cartwheel), but I'm not sure JSawyer.esp did anything revelatory enough to incorporate into Fallout 4 - which will get a balance tweak completely unique to it, I'm sure.

Yes, you are correct, it was just a balance tweak and some bug fixes. Only thing that made it special was that it was from a developer of the game.

And i dare say there are better bug fix, balance change and DLC integration mods out there

Well, I use jsawyer.esp, a few other mods that increase the game difficulty, and then get a perk-every-level mod to even it out in New Vegas. But jswayer.esp is my favorite major balance tweak mod for New Vegas - my problem with most other mods is that they do too much, you know? I really don't like to drastically change the vanilla experience, most of the mods I pick up are to tighten it up and increase the difficulty in a more natural way - that's exactly what jsawyer.esp does perfectly.

It would be interesting to see if developers from Bethesda release any unofficial mods, especially now with mods on consoles. They've released official ones in the past, like Fall of the Space Core for Skyrim (which never got a Volume 2... unless, oh gawd, "Fall of the Space Core, Volume Two" is the official Fallout 4 mod) and the really meh free plugins they put out for Morrowind. There was one real-time carriages mod a dev put out for Skyrim, but it was delivered in an unfinished state since the dev was spending too much time, you know, working on actual games.
