Where is the Player HomeBase of Operations?

Sick of raiders, ya me too.

Worry about you home while your away,

and more importantly the junk you worked so hard to collect. UH huh

Well be smart and invest like ole 2-caps I still have some prime lots for sale

and by golly you wont. THATS you wont find security like this anywhere else.

Take a look, Busts into song as starts slideshow.

"Just look at the world around you,

right here on the ocean floor.

Such wonderful things surround you,

What more is you looking for.

Under the sea, under the Sea.

Darling its better down where its wetter

Take it from me."

2-caps INC is not responsible for lurk infestations, Spout attacks, frolicking squids that may want to mate you, Chinese remnant deep sea divers (Holy diver good song huh my brain is odd), Muwhales, talking dolphin con men, rad induced visions of mermaids, drowning, the bends, colds caught, and loss of followers trying to get to your new digs.

(I will Live here one way or the other heheh)

Oh man, I didn't even think of that! That would be so cool if you could take little cruises around the Commonwealth and look out your window from inside your very own quarters aboard the airship!

Maybe bases and playerhomes are seperated.

1. You have the garage were you can craft and upgrade/mod the power armor(but in the released footage so far its not part of a town)

2. You can call in you vertibird(chopper), but then again were does it comes from? I think you will have acces to the power armor and chopper after you meet the minute men, factions will provide you with these?

3. The town itself has stats (hapiness, security, food, water, beds?) and Todd said you can connect your "towns" with caravans

It is not really clear how it will all work, will you really be able to make your own" faction" or do you have to actually ally/join an existing one to get acess to some goodies...

I now have a mental image of assigning Dogmeat to run one of your settlements.

Sounds like something the Wacky Wasteland trait would do......

Dogtown Settler: Sir, we have a problem in the water filtration system again.

Dogmeat: Woof?

Dogtown Settler: What brainless idiot decided our leader should be a dog?

I assume you won't be able to do that though, most likely you can only assign humans to oversee settlements.

Although I wonder if Cogsworth counts, he's not a human, but he does speak/communicate and can solve problems.

And he makes you snacks while he works!

Would be fun though!

Assinging dogmeat to run a settlement.

You go away for a while and come back, see dogmeat on a throne made of bones and the whole town had been running amok worshipping a dog XD!!!

I just wonder if there will be a charging station for codsworth (since he cant use a bed being a robot and all and dogmeat has a doghouse as a "bed")

@darkdervish

Fallout robots run on nuclear power cores, so they have no need to recharge.

They do appear to have maintenance stations though, I've seen them enough in Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas to know what they are.

Typically, they dock with the station to go into sleep mode or to receive new programming instructions.

I'm assuming the stations might also do some repair work or reload their armaments if they have weapons.

In Cogsworth's case, being a civilian owned robot, he'd have his own Maintenance Station somewhere in the house, just for the convenience of having it close by.

I'll have to check and see if there is one when the game comes out.

One of the big requests last time around was for the player to be able to take ownership of a building, after its current owners were dead (ahem). The engin did not allow for that even through a mod. I hope they have fixed that. There were a number of buildings/houses I would have liked to own instead of the ones they gave me (including mods).

This came to mind. I can imagine it as the Sole Survivor smashing a ghoul's head in, can't I? :D

More mental images time.

Someone has to make a mod with a lawn chair and the get off my lawn comment shouted when you press Interact while seated in it.

1st Raider: You're just going to sit in a chair and shout at me, how lame are you!
Sole Survivor: Git off my lawn!
*picks up overpowered shotgun from beneath the chair and blasts 1st raider for torsosplody fun*
*puts down shotgun and picks up overpowered Pipe of Headsmashing while rising from the chair*
2nd Raider: Okay, I'm gitting off your lawn!

Back on topic, I know we'd all like to choose our base, but will we be given the freedom to do so?
Or will it be a case of, here is your home base, take it or leave it.

It could go either way, depending on how much they are utilizing the settlement construction engine in regards to companions, permanent secure storage containers, beds and crafting workbenches.

I think you can build one anywhere there is a gas station and I suspect there will be some predetermined player homes.
