Pip-boy edition digital download?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 9:49 am

Hello all, don't really use this forum much but if it hasn't sprung up before I'm wondering if anyone knows if the Pip-Boy edition will have a steam key for buyers so that they can play at midnight like everyone else? Or are we going to have to wait for the 1-2 day delivery to be able to play??

I believe he wants the key before getting the physical game. Like when Stardock did for theirs as I remember selling the physical copy but using the key I was emailed.

Then it is something they need to confirm with the retailer that they bought the pip-boy edition from. Either the code is on the receipt or it will be emailed before the game arrives.

Usually they start the delivery process a day or two before release day so you'll get it on release, no?

This is true. My Fallout Anthology was shipped September 25 and I got it September 29 which was the release date. However with Fallout 4, people can start playing the game at midnight EST provided that they preloaded the game. So that is 8 or more hours that players that preloaded the game get to play Fallout 4 compared to players that have to rely on a physical copy to install the game.

It's basically like E.S.O tried giving out keys and codes and none of that worked out to well so they pushed it away and said you all get to play this game for free.

That's what I mean, We get a Steam key with the physical copy but as far as I know nothing early so we will either have to wait as long as it takes to deliver (I have been left a few days before on a pre-order delivery) or have to buy a digital copy before so we can enjoy it with everyone else :/

My mate is going to buy the physical copy for the PC at midnight, he doesn't want to have to wait for the download from steam as it might be a very busy time for their servers (rubbish internet connection). He'll then buy the end of year edition on steam at a later date.

I did that with Skyrim, but STEAM still downloaded the whole game even though I had the disk in.

Are you sure about that? When I installed Fallout 3 from the Anthology, Steam took over the installation process, but it was still through my disc.

Well, the progress bar moved awfully slow for a disk download, so that's what I assumed was happening. Plus the light on my disk drive stopped flashing like it does when the disk is being read.
