[Suggestion] New oldies50svintage style music

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:01 am

Hi
I would like to see in Fallout 4 is exclusive 50s (oldies) music style. This will give more wealth to the Fallout universe, imagining that even the ''future'' still continued to record music (keeping 50s/oldies/vintage style). This give more wealth to the Fallout universe/story.
Imagine the songs citing parts of the story of the game, brand and product (eg, a 2074 song saying that the great war comes, or 2044 says about Nuka-Cola). That would be awesome.

I would like to see the guys from PostmodernJukebox (youtube: ScottBradleeLovesYa/videos) write music for Fallout hehe.
Modern music adapted (like Postmodern Jukebox) is good too, but then I think the copyrights would be expensive.

(sorry for my english)

I would be happy if they occasionally just offer a DLC pack of licensed music from different era's so that I can plug them in like a cartridge on my PipBoy and listen to it instead of the same 25 songs over... and over ... and over.... and OVER....

would like some Rock N Roll in the mix.

Probably we have to use mods for that.

I really really really liked the "Mysterious Broadcast" that was introduced with the Old World Blues DLC for New Vegas! Here's hoping for more cool jazz, kid.

Why make knock-offs when there's plenty of actual, original 30s, 40s, and 50s music that has never been in Fallout yet....

I found this youtube channel a few moments ago searching for "new doo wop bands" I kept thinking it'd be kind of cool if there were new bands doing 50's sounds.( I was thinking of squirrel nut zippers but that's not really the right sound.) these bands are doing covers of recent songs but in a 50's jazz or doo wop style. Some of these would probably fit well in the Fallout universe. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCORIeT1hk6tYBuntEXsguLg

There were a lot of Mods in New Vegas that added whole new radio stations with a lot of old vintage music. One even had one radio show's like The Shadow and Box 13

I'm expecting a few of those to return

To expand on this, I think modern dieselpunk bands might fit Fallout pretty well. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about if you don't know: https://dieselpunksencyclopedia.wordpress.com/6-3-dieselpunk-music/
The idea being that if music progressed from the diversion in the 1940's through 2077, it might sound a lot like modern dieselpunk.

I just want the ability to populate one of the radio stations with my own MP3s.

The ability to set up play lists would be icing on the cake.

Great idea for DLC, though!

The problem there is, like squirrel nut zippers, that music is based more on the sounds of 30's/40's swing, ragtime and blues. 50's were about rock, doo wop, jazz and sci-fi movies.

Johnny Guitar I could probably handle for a little while longer, but I start to get a tic in my face anymore if I hear Butcher Pete.

Yeah I always figured some kind of expanded music DLC would be coming at some point because it just seemed like such a common sense thing to me that I assumed they had to have thought of it as well and it would show up one day.

My initial thought is that, like weapons and armors, this is something Bethesda would leave to the modding community (now available on consoles) or incorporate into a full-blown expansion. But then, Bethesda has the edge on licensing music; would it fall under Fair Use for free video game mods to include music?

I gotta say, though, the radio expansion mods for 3 and New Vegas are by far my favorite mods for those games - and they mostly draw from the public domain.

Well I knew there were mods for expanded music on the pc versions, but I only play on console, and honestly if I'm gonna get a music mod then I want it to be licensed which is going to usually involve some sort of price.

But once again I'll say it, I spend literally hundreds of hours touring around FO3 and FNV, and yeah I usually have the radio on, and would pay out for a music DLC without even having to think about it for a second if they ever offered it.

Way more likely to get my nickels with something like that as opposed to vault suit or eye bot for my avatar to wear or have circle him.

I love this style of music.
Side note: Big band, swing, dieselpunk is what I generally listen to while I'm coding. Either that or house music, but it drives me nuts after a while.

You may not know this, but the 90s weren't the only decade to reintroduce older music styles.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragtime#Ragtime_revivals

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swing_music#1950s-60s:_swingin.27_pop

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1950s_in_jazz

I for one would be receptive to new music in old styles. The fallout universe timeline seems incomplete without a music history past the 1950s.

Why not push the limit with some Post Modern Jukebox to fill out a playlist in addition to retro 90s fare? NOTE: I WOULD PAY FOR THIS IN A MOD/DLC. [...also as well as a good VCPR type talk radio station]
