As speculation builds up for the highly anticipated Fallout 4 questions arise about the plot. Some things have come to light recently after investigating more thoroughly how does the protagonist survive after 200 years. Sure the most logical answer is some sort of cryogenic slumber. However a new theory has risen suggesting you may be a synth. Synths are a new type of characters you will encounter .

Some good some bad. Concept art has shown us that synths were planned for fallout 4. And a video of the gameplay shows a split second of the main character targeting a "synth raider"

So will the main character be a real person or do you think you were created as a synth released 200 years later?

Definitely not. I don't even think synths will be the central focus of the story.

Since they were not in previous fallout games they will have some explaining to do in the story. While it may not be the main focus it will come up and probably a lot considering synths haven't had a place in the universe until now

Synths were in Fallout 3.

I though I took an arrow to the knee. But it turned out to be synthetic.

On one hand it makes sense, considering the protagonist will will be the lord of murder and will be able to take shotgun blasts to the face without flinching, or become some sort of all knowing superhuman master of medicine, science, and maintenance. (if he is anything like past protagonists anyways lol).

Yea, he's like that Android in FO3 and all that pre-war stuff was just implanted memory.

Synths appear mainly in Fallout 4, however, Harkness and armitage from fallout 3 are synths as well.

They play a much larger roll in fallout 4.

I'm sure they'll get a significant part in the setting, like Super Mutants or the Outcasts in Fallout 3, or the Thalmor in Skyrim, but they won't be the main quest.

And the fact that people have been making this prediction as early as the damn announcement trailer kind of indicates that it's a terrible and predictable twist.

It's really not a new theory. Also, while I wouldn't mind if we get a significant conflict (large faction side quests) between synths, the institute, and the rest of humanity, I think it highly unlikely that we ourselves end up being synths. I certainly hope that we don't end up being synths either.

Haha oh gosh, I'm getting tired of seeing so much mention of the synth/android theory that's gaining populrity. :/ It's baseless and it's giving me a headache. Can we just drop this theory already? Remember that the Replicated Man quest let us treat A3-21 like a piece of android nonhuman trash - us being an android ourselves would really color our opinion of the "Androids are people too!" thing, and while it would be an ironic revelation for any evil anti-android characters to turn out to be androids themselves, I think that would mostly just piss people off.

If you have to assume he's lying in order to justify a theory, though, it's probably not a solid theory.

He has stretched the truth and embellished things, but that's different than saying Vault 111 is a cryo vault and then it turns out being something else. Again, you have no supporting information to suggest the player is a robot, while I have provided concrete footage stating otherwise. Why else do you think the main character is in shock or denial that it's been 200 years when it's revealed by Codsworth?

Not only is it not a new thought/concern,on Several different Fallout Forums its a item on the "When someone mention's it take a shot" Drinking game list.

Please... NO! I want to play a normal Human... I don't want to play a robot... This would destroy everything for me. In my second play I wouldn't care about my family "Why should I even care? I'm just a robot and this isn't true"...

I don't know about our character being a synth, but I sure wouldn't mind some cybernetic enhancement implants!
