Unfortunately, very few gamers are direct customers of publishers (much less the developer) so I don't see the system changing anytime soon. It's a sad fact that today, Manufacturers market to consumers, but SELL to retailers (even if the retailer is Amazon that sells it online). No manufacturer wants to sell directly to the customer for a myriad of reasons.

I'm not sure that they don't want to - but whether or not that's the case, they do sell directly to the customer, in my examples.

Bethesda could have gone the same route for Fallout 4 that they went for Wolfenstein.

Also, Bethesda's merch store in general. They're selling directly to the customer, not just one or two small, limited offerings, but it's a major operation.

Anyway, I just brought it up as an idea. I don't think it's impossible. Obviously a lot of fans still want the Pip-Boy edition, and I'm sure Bethesda is just as unhappy about the scalpers as the fans are, so I'm sure they will learn from the quantity situation this time around, and that they'll be trying to think of ways to improve the process for their next big release.

I would like to buy one, but don't see a button on that page. Am I being daft?

Unfortunately, whatever additional inventory they added sold out within the hour.

Best Buy has some sort of Gold Edition... Dumbledore would love this edition.

Fallout 4 is the single greatest game in the history of videogames......if Bethesda could somehow, by some miracle, produce 7.2 billion PipBoy editions they'd all sell out in a day and then every man, woman, and child on earth would have one.

Lol,no. Even here in the dedicated fans' forums there are many who wouldn't buy such an edition. Big, plastic toy equals kitsch for some people. Some are more attracted to lore books, art books, cloth maps, flac soundtracks on usb sticks and other quality items that are missing from this edition.

Some cannot deny the allure of a pipboy phone case on their wrist.

I want one, I really do, but my best chance is to find on for sale online later down the road.

Just so I can BS my grandkids later in life about the time I escaped a Vault.

LOL!

I'm hoping the people who are reselling have outdone themselves this time, and that after the hype is over post-release, the resellers will outnumber the demand, and they'll be forced to go down to retail price in order to unload them, so that folks who didn't get one because of people who bought to resell will be able to get one for a fair price.

Destiny was the last big one, I think. If it doesn't happen this time, it's gotta happen sooner or later.

Rather have a working Pip-boy 1.0. It seems powerful enough to play Fallout 4 on my wrist.
