I hope FO4 doesn't feel lonely.

...but Borderlands has to respawn. That's the game-style it is: ARPG, like Diablo/Torchlight/etc. Endless mob grinder for random loot. That kind of requires endless mobs.

(Now, Fallout 3/Skyrim/Oblivion only respawn things when you've been away from a world map cell for 3+ days, if I recall correctly. So, respawns, but not quick and not in areas you're actively adventuring in.)

Yes but it also is required from something like a drop in drop out game. If I've already cleared half the map and someone drops in they need respawning locations otherwise there isn't a point. And unless they have two different game modes that "feature" would need to be implemented into the single player game as well (since it can just become a co op/MP game if someone joins.) This would change the game quite a bit if enemies respawned like that, especially with the kinds of quests in FO.

I hope the wasteland parts of the commonwealth are absolutely lonely.
That way it goes with the cold weather and shorter daylight hours that are coming up.
I dig it.

All of the friend you need in the wasteland is your rifle. Nobody else will take care of you in the way that your means of self-protection and hunting will.

In all seriousness though, we don't know very much about the companions. I am hoping for something on the level of the Interesting NPC's Companions for Skyrim, which do the usual modding thing of taking one aspect of the game and adding as much content and depth to it as possible since you have infinite time and infinite money. Bethesda takes heavy notice of modders, and I wouldn't be suprised if quite a few of the developers run that when they play Skyrim at home.

Then maybe you should stick with kitty island adventure :P

It's an apocalyptic wasteland, you WILL have good and bad times including the isolation of loneliness.

 :icecream:

u dont see the point in Borderland isnt a single player deep story game, is more of a grinding loot shooter, like Diablo 3, kill 1000000 that monster he maybe droop a epic.

While Fallout runs on a similar base like ES or ME or DA, not only monster dont re-spawn, loot is there to grab it 1 time. U really dont need to grind on place to get a cool loot u just need to do 1 dungeon one time.

That way Borderland have cero RPG elements, Borderland isnt even a Action/RPG, where Falllout is.

Most ppl that ask fallout to have a Co-op dont release how much the game need to change to be able to do it, not only VATS need to go away, since slow time when u want and choose where u shoot on a co-op game dont work, u also need to change how the game work, bc since u can get some weapons 1 time u need to choose who will get it and that person wont be able to get it again, So to work Fallout need to become a grind loot shooter, like Destiny or Borderland.

Did you.... skip the part where I said I DIDN'T want Fallout to become like that? I was only using one point about Borderlands to shoot down the idea. There's obviously many points against Fallout turning into something like that.

I'm hoping the game will be very lonely, that the Boston wasteland will be so painfully lonely and provide a very stark and despairing picture of the aftermath of a nuclear war. Better than it being filled with loud mouthed prats who won't keep quiet and who think hopping around like deranged rabbits makes them better at a game.

The loneliness in Fallout 3 was excellent and added so much to the already strong emotional context. I'm hoping Fallout 4 will be the same way.

It won't be lonely. You'll just have to deal with having the Fallout 4 version of Nazeem as a perma-companion always commenting about the things you do and how inefficiently you do them.

lol lonely. I feel almost content while exploring the wasteland. It's me, my weapon, and the road ahead. No idiot team mates to contend with.. If I ever want company I just pick up a companion.

Fallout has always dealt with the devastation and loss of the majority of humanity and civilization in one way or another. One of the more traditional ways to impress upon the player the devastation that resulted in this world is by having them wander around a barren and rather bleak environment. Loneliness can be an effective tool in having the player experience the cost of the apocalypse. I've personally found the Fallout games to be highly entertaining, but not what I would call "happy" games. Although it's only my opinion, I'm quite certain that parts or perhaps the majority of Fallout 4 will purposefully try to instill you with at least some sense of loneliness/loss.

This type of theme isn't for everyone, and there's honestly nothing wrong with anyone who isn't a fan of it.

If this is a serious concern for you, it may be a good idea to wait to purchase Fallout 4 until after the game releases so you can watch some youtube gameplay videos and have more information to go on to help you decide if this is a game you'd enjoy.

NPC companions seeming companionable is probably a good thing.

A wasteland is supposed to be barren and thus lonely, that's essentially what the word means... But there will be plenty of NPCs to interact with in the city areas and companions too.

The beauty of Bethesda's games is that you can set the tone of your experience to great effect. Don't want to be bothered by NPC chit chat, then avoid the main towns and camps. Be a wanderer of the wastes, and establish a base that has you and your dog only. Don't want to be lonely? , frequent the towns and cities, do the questlines you find from their inhabitants. Build up your own custom settlement and then let people move in, and keep cycling back and forth...

Mobs do respawn in Elderscrolls and Fallout games, it just takes x amount of in-game days compared to 5 minutes (or something) in Borderlands
