Fallout 4 Is Internet Required to play the game?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 7:22 am

I have a few friends who are curious for a xbox one if they have to have internet for fallout 4, and if the dlc will have that requirement as well. Any ideas of this, just want to figure this out for my friends, before the game launches because i bought them copies of the game and it would svck if they couldn't play fallout 4 because of no internet? I know patches and updates require internet, but does just having the game require this. I have internet, but im trying to find out for them.

I would assume DLC is that, DLC so for that they will need a net, of course patching is also a factor and we'll it is a Beth game...

You will need an Internet connection to download any files or patches, and of course DLC. Other than that, no. You don't need to have a constant connection in order to play the game.

DLC and patches only. And the GOTY version won't besides getting the patches.

PC requires internet for initial activation. Xbox may need something similar.

No, since that's only for actively-online games and/or playing the "free" monthly games. Buying stuff off the PSN store, getting patches, getting DLC.... none of those require Playstation+

As the game does not all fit on the PC DVD, it will probably use quite a bit more internet traffic than that

I don't think you will either need XB Live or PS+ to play the game. Fallout 4 isn't a MMO, so there is no MP. !!!

But you will need an internet connection to download the day 1 patch.

The same goes for the PC, that includes the authentication procedure through your personal account.

Except that, I'm pretty sure you could use the *Steam Offline Mode to play that game without to be online...

* Offline Mode allows to play games through Steam without reconnecting to the Steam Network every time you wish to play,

and this is useful if you don't wanna play over the net (so be online) and don't wanna download new updates for that particular game.

However, you must connect to the Steam Network and test the game you wanna use in Offline Mode - at least once, to set up your account and configure Offline Mode.

I'm pretty sure an Xbox One without an internet connection is going to be less than fully functional if it will even function at all (considering it will likely need updates and patches right out of the box).

Very few games these days will ship without requiring some sort of Day One patch / update so I would be very hesitant to consider gaming without an internet connection of some sort as viable these days.
