So, I pre-ordered the Pip-Boy edition on Amazon for PS4 the moment I received the alert that it was available.

I jumped on EBay and saw that the pre-orders are selling for $250-$300!! That's crazy!

Now I'm struggling with three options,

1. Keep it
2. Sell it now while the getting is good, and buy the digital download and get the season pass for free pretty much.
3. Wait for the game to launch to sell it in hopes it'll be worth more!

Suggestions? Think the value will go up even more once it's released; or would you think it would drop in value?

Personally, I think that right now the hype is at its highest, and the "value" is at its highest because there is so much demand. Right now it's a seller's market, but I think that will change after the launch.

That's very true! I hate to be "that guy" that sells it on eBay for more than I bought it for... But I don't make a lot on money and this helps me a ton by pretty much getting this game for completely free and helps pay for me taking a day off on release day :0

Just keep it in the box for 50 or 60 years and then sell it. Having a few hundred dollars might seem good now... but if it actually does become a collectible down the road and sells for a really high price then you'd kind of kick yourself. If it doesn't become and actual collectible.. oh well, You didn't really lose out on that much money and you can will it to your grandchildren.

It's very different nowadays with all the hype that gets generated online and all the resellers who scoop up big quantities of stuff, at least I feel it's different. Normally you'd expect as time goes on, supply goes down and prices go up. In recent years it seems like there's a huge frenzy that happens mostly near the beginning causing insane prices, followed by a big drop sometimes even falling below original retail, and then the long term sets in which will eventually lead to higher prices again but not for a long time.

I'm no expert and I don't have tonnes of experience but that's what I've seen happen with several gaming things, mostly Nintendo stuff that I followed, over the last couple years.

Oh and on another note, the Pip-Boy edition has been popping up at retail again lately which might be hurting resale prices a bit right now. Today (yesterday now I guess) it was available for a bit at EB Games in Canada.

I know what you mean, but that's normal with items like these, but over time they go up in price.

I don't know what you should do, I know what I would do: I would keep it because for me it's highly collectible. It is true that the future price of a sealed CE will depend on the quality of the game itself, there are examples from the past when a game bombed and so did its collector's edition, despite the physical content and quality of said edition being very good (Age Of Conan, for instance). I'd recommend keeping it. I had a bunch of video game stuff that I parted with some years ago that I now regret!

Only fake fans would sell the insanely amazing PipBoy edition. It will be an insanely valuable relic millions of years from now and Fallout 4 will be spoken of at great length in history classes. Never has the phrase "don't be on the wrong side of history" been more accurate.

It's not worth that. That's the price the neckbeards are selling it for because they know idiots will pay it.

I would personally keep it. I regret not buying the Vault Boy statutes when they were first on sale.

I'm surprised how much the other Fallout collectors edition have risen over the past year. I got my CEs of 3 and New Vegas for pretty cheap over a year ago, now they're going for crazy prices, like over 5-6 times the prices I originally paid for them. Not that I would ever sell them.

I bought the Fallout 3 Lunchbox from Ebay maybe a year ago, it was new and unopened for $49. I of course got it and opened it to make sure it was complete and it was. Those prices from Ebay are insane.
