What about robotic horses?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:10 pm

Since we know that horses are extinct in the FO Universe, what about robotic horses? The Institute obviously has the technology to manufacture advanced robotics, so it wouldn't be a huge stretch for them to manufacture a robot horse to ride around the terrain on. We know that cars and motorcycles would be probably too difficult for Bethesda to have in the game, but they've already had experience with horses on rough terrain, so it wouldn't be too hard to port that knowledge over.

Kiddy Up, Butter Cup. Already existed in a small scale before the war.

According to the wiki Todd Howard confirmed that Giddyup ButterCup will make a return in FO4, I don't see the article link however.

I dont get the impression the Institute wouldn't bother building robotic horses, they seem kinda isolationist, plus I think overall Beth wants to avoid to many blunt connections between TES and Fallout.

I remember seeing this http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/2/2a/Giddyup_Buttercup.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20090524072952around many times in Fallout 3. Can't imagine anyone at that time spending $16,000 dollars for there daughters amusemant. According to this http://www.dollartimes.com/inflation/inflation.php?amount=10&year=1950, that is over $159,000 now.

While Fallout is based on a retro-50s view of the future, the bombs dropped in 2077, inflation would still have happened. $16,000 could be something like $1,600 in today's economy. Still an expensive toy though, but a bit more affordable.

Robotic walrus would be cooler. Imagine saddling up your walrus and riding off into the sunset sea.

I'd like to see two coconuts that you could bang together.

As a mode of fast travel.

IIRC in FO3 didn't they hint if not flat show that the aliens in mothership zeta were responsible for building giddy up buttercup? That or they had an Extreme robot horse fetish.

They were trying to weaponize it from what I remember. There's a room which shows a bunch of dead test subjects surrounding a single buttercup.

Apparently they became fascinated by the toy and decided to make an army of killer robotic horses.
