I have a few weapon ideas you may like to hear.

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 6:54 am

Weapons like a AK-47 styled assault rifle, or a Tommy Gun styled sub machine gun. For shotguns 10-gauge Trench Gun, and a Saiga 12-gauge style shotgun. For handguns, a single action Smith and Wesson 44 magnum revolver, a Smith and Wesson 500 style handgcannon, and a German Semi Auto Mauser styled handgun, also a laser styled revolver. For Sniper Rifles a Mosin Nagunant, a PTRS Anti- Material rifle. For Melee weapons a Fallout Designed "Franklinater off of Futurama's TV show". Like the head of a Ghoul on a metal pipe or a Kill bot blade that spins on a hand held extended punching glove design. Thank you for taking your time to read this. Tell me what you people think and let's try to get this as a DLC or an update for these weapons.

Greetings! Welcome to the forums. My those are some very specific weapons ideas! With the way the weapon modding system looks like it's going to work, I'm betting you can make a similar weapon to those you listed, in function if not in form. I would also expect many real world weapons to be modded into the game as well.

If you can dream it up, it can be made into a mod. Ton of weapons mods for previous games. Don't know if they are the kind that will end up on consoles, but I would put my money on them being the kind of mods that console players do get access to.

l wouldn't vote for these to be in a dlc or update for the base game, personally. The Franklinator, while funny since it's a wooden bat with a badger tied to it (so I assume you mean an enemy's head etc. instead), belongs more in a game like Serious Sam or Borderlands...it may not fit into Fallout and its design imo. The guns don't interest me, not unique and would just be added to the list for junk guns to sell, and it's likely you could mod some guns to be very similar to them, except maybe a laser shooting revolver which might be cool albeit possibly impractical. As a mod, however, sure. Talk to modders about having that thrown in.

AK-47 = chinese assault rifle from FO:3.

Tommy gun = .45 Auto submachine gun with drum mag attachment from FO:NV

.44 Magnum has been in FO:3 and NV with that name.

130 year old Soviet weapons don't really fit the official game setting. Mods tend to add Mosin nagants, never seen much point with hunting rifles. Anti-tank rifles meh, get 50 cals in NV lol.

Oh then there's the copy right and legal mumbojumbo they run in to officially adding some weapons and then the company not existing in this world.

You have to find the right balance with weapons. You don't want to just copy real world weapons for everything as it would make it like a modern shooter or world war game. You have to remember this is a retro-futuristic post apocalyptic game set 200 years after the war, not your average shooter.
That's probably why Bethesda is making weapons look like they were made in the wasteland. Hate it if you will, but it fits better than world war era weapons or weapons that came after our timelines split.
Just my opinion

I like the way you think OP. Agree with much of what you suggest. Good news is much of that already exists within the universe. Things like .500 S&Ws, 10 gauge shotguns, and anything else that relies on ammo that may not be modeled or used in game, obviously won't be in (we know next to nothing about the ammunition system btw); but modders will more than likely fill in your wish list...using RL models and re-chambering mods like CaliberX. So, no worries. I would only add a 1911 modeled handgun and some sort of long-action rifle like a .300 Win Mag or higher.

Agree with nathanator2 in that they have to carefully balance firearms, since this franchise has a detailed lore established as a backdrop and it is not a modern day FPS. Having said that, Bethesda should choose small arms wisely, and Obsidian did a better than average job of it in NV. Also, there's really no reason we can't see some post-split RL weapon design since the FO timeline could have easily developed something similar (not exact) to what we have in ours, although they will likely fill in those gaps with things like the sporty 10mm pistol and energy weapons. The bottom line is that we share weapon designs right up to sometime in the early 60's, of which most of our modern weapon designs find their origins there or earlier.

Be that as it may, there are still a ton of widely distributed weapons that were designed prior, or during, the split: AKs, ARs, M-14s, M1s, M2s (which more than likely lead them to design a badass .50 BMG antimateriel rifle), Thompsons, 1911s, BARs, M-79s, M60s, most revolvers and lever-action rifles, and even the Remington 700. Perhaps their timeline even improved upon these iconic designs and left schematics behind., from which we can actually produce new weapons (assuming the machinery is still available to use). We did it in NV, we can do it in FO4. It is relevant to note here as well that FO takes place in the continental U.S (at least up to now), and that it's quite an understatement to say that weapon (especially popular weapon designs) distribution is quite widespread.

I didn't start off all that optimistic, but am coming around to having faith in Bethesda that they will get small arms right having seen the SS carrying an M-14 in the Wanderer trailer.

Also if you read when this fallout is set roughly 200 years after fallout 3. So more or less all of these weapons would be more likely to be in this time zone because, if you recall Fallout New Vegas had the PTRS is in, also there was the GUN RNNER'S DLC and Honest Hearts DLC which had a lot of guns in it. which included a fully automatic tommy gun. So if you're going to shoot down my idea at last know what you are fully talking about before jumping the gun in this conversation or this topic.

I do agree with you on those weapons but I would like to see weapons make a comeback. Like the punch gun from fallout tactics and the desert eagle from fallout tactics. I would also like to find brass knuckles in the the world map a customize them to have spikes or even have the shoulder mounted machine gun from fallout new Vegas and put it on my power armor. As for guns I would like to see new to the game I think the franklinator would be funny to see if it was a ghouls head tied to a stick (I would make it a weapon you have to go through radiation to get to like the holy hand grenades in Fallout New Vegas.) I would like to see a blunderbuss, a musket that actually takes lead bullets, a crossbow or bow and craftable arrows (craftable arrow heads). I would like it if you could dual wield weapons like in fallout brotherhood of steel.

Fallout 4 doesn't happen 200 years after Fallout 3, it happens 200 years after the Great War when the bombs fell...so no, it is you who needs to know what you're talking about.

How do you know for certain the exact year the game takes place? To my knowledge, that hasn't been revealed so it's all just guesswork so far.

I'm sure we can rely on Milennia to deliver lots of 20th century weapons to Fallout 4. He or she practically runs the weapon mods section for New Vegas.

Then how do you know if it isn't roughly 200 years later after Fallout 3 then. All you do is criticize other people's post and their idea's but yet you don't create a topic to speculate anything on, or what you would like to at least see or hope for in the wasteland that is coming soon.

Simple logic, that's how. The bombs fell in 2077, the sole survivor in Fallout 4 escapes vault 111 200 years after the bombs fall according to the development director Todd Howard, it might not be exactly 200 years but we don't know... but that's about 2277 and that is also the exact same year that the player escapes vault 101 in Fallout 3. You can look this all up. But by your logic, since I've already told you that that this game happens 200 years after the bombs dropped/the great war and you still want to tell me Fallout 4 is roughly 200 years after Fallout 3, that means Fallout 3 happened right around when the bombs dropped.

Also, I have no clue what your rant about me is about, and I make topics to discuss this game too. I corrected you, get over it.

44 magnum and mosin nagant are musts for me. I may have to get more into modding to bring those into my game if someone diesnt create them. Ak47 would be nice too, i like the fallout 3 version of it, just needs that wood stock instead of that green plastic one
