Is there a perk calculator available?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 12:09 pm

In the final days of this great anticipation I like to try different character builds on paper and I was wondering if Fallout has a perk calculator online, like ESO has a few skill calculator websites where you can test skill pojnt allocation, reset and again.

I know there is a perk poster but it looks like just pictures, not the perks explanation.

Do you think the perks will be all visible from the start, or greyed out and unlocked when you level up and raise the governing attribute?

Not one that is accurate enough to actually plan a character effectively.

vault111.com

That's the closest we have to a perk calculator so far. A lot of them are still missing.

I have managed to get quite a few suggestions for individual perks posted up on the site, but I've been really busy with other real world stuff. Once the game launches, all of the perk info will be updated directly from the digital strategy guide, and so it will be a useful companion tool for anyone who doesn't yet have the final game, or for anyone who wants to plan their character using their phone, tablet, or laptop. The site developer (who has also been very busy over the last few weeks) will be adding a ton of new features to the site after launch.

In the meantime, being able to see which perks you have access to from the start is very useful. Even if we don't know in detail what they each do, we can at least form a rough idea. For example, the perks at P7 and I9 (which I have called Resonance and Fusion) appear to be linked to radiation. My guesstimates, which I never had a chance to post on the site, are that they enhance V.A.T.S. and Energy Weapon functionality whilst we're irradiated. Hope this helps

EDIT: a lot of the base perks also appear to be adapted from those seen in previous games, making it even easier to start planning your character now.

Yes, of course it helps :tops: I love it when passionate fans share their intel and make helpful tools like this.

I'm usually the "zero tolerance to spoilers" type of guy, but unlike other developers Bethesda has done a pretty good job keeping the details about story, quest branching, roleplay options to be a surprise when we play for the first time, so I guess I can afford some guilty pleasure of number tinkering and character planning in advance.

Yeah, I do too. It'd be silly to hide what perks do since everyone will just go to the internet or use the game guide to find them anyway.

We're shown in the character system video that all of the Perk Chart perks (and all their ranks) are visible from the first time you can check the perk chart (which might be a while into the game, depending upon when you get the Pip-Boy).

You get the pipboy just before exiting the vault. So it's probably like Fallout 3, just before leaving the vault you can change your stats, character, etc.... Probably when you get your first glance at the perks....
