My idea for punishing those who pirated this game

Piracy isnt limited to just videogames. Movies, music, pormography, images. Ever read some webcomic on another place than the authors website? That's a form of piracy all the same, someone worked hard on that and isn't getting ad revenue because you arent visiting his or her website, welcome to the club. :D

I respect the forum rules. But it seems disingenuous for people to curse the earth that videogame pirates walk on, but than listen to pirated music, watch pirated anime or tv series, and read pirated webcomics that have been distributed without the authors consent, watch streams on Twitchwith pirated music or listen on youtube to copyrighted music.

There are probably three strands to the argument that get conflated:

  1. Bad DRM is bad and rewarding software is good - I think this is a good and logical argument
  2. Piracy exists and cannot be stopped, so don't bother - It can't be stopped, but companies have a legal duty to try
  3. Piracy is not stealing, it is [insert other less prejudicial phrase] - this is bull, people are being pedantic or deluding themselves

My personal issue is aimed at those who feel that they are entitled to free stuff because the company has DRM, or by some linguistic fallacy that it is fine to do. Or the notion that 'everyone does it' so it's ok. It isn't. I love playing great games, and they can only be made if it is financially viable for the companies to do so.
