Let's talk a bit about season pass

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 4:10 pm

Let's say to start off.. PS3/PS4

Season pass is something I am not familiar with.

I have never purchased a season pass.

Ok let's say Oblivion DLC: I don't like KOTN

For Skryim DLC: I don't like Dawnguard.

In Oblivion I am forced with KOTN.. It is not possible to buy a copy of Oblivion without KOTN attached. (Believe me I tried..) Not cool.

With Skyrim I took my Legendary copy back to Gamestop, sold it and bought the standard version, then bought the dlc I liked seperately.

Cool.. :goodjob:

So.. IF I purchase this season pass, can I pick and choose? Can I uninstall something I don't like? (Dawnguard vampires killing npc's for the rest of the game.. Or KOTN changing the chapels and the wilderness shrines and also killing some merchant spell sellers who are the ONLY ones selling certain spells, and not replacing these merchants.)

Thanks!

Well in Skyrim you had to install the DLCs separately so I assume if you don't install it won't be there. (Obviously)

Well, if you buy the Season Pass, you're paying for all the DLC.
If you don't want them all, or aren't sure, don't by the Pass and pay for the DLC individually as they're released.

@Lucifer -I had legendary.. Everything was on that disc.

@jpo : I'm considering that.. If I am not allowed to choose which ones I want or.. Can't uninstall One.

What jpo said, with the Season Pass you buy all the DLCs to come. If you are not sure whether you will like all of them or if you do not trust Bethesda all that much to creat great DLC than wait and buy them separately.

Or if money is not the issue, but you want crappy DLCs not to spoil your experience, I am pretty sure you can activate or deactivate them as you see fit. Also you can just avoid the respective quests, if you do not want to miss out on pther perks of the DLCs (i.e. weapons and perks).

Season pass = bulk discount. That's all it is. It has nothing to do with having to DL/install every DLC as all one thing.

@VincentNZ

I have played Bethesda games since Morrowind was released in 2002.

However I don't trust that one of the dlc's might not be something that randomly lands with you when you are fast traveling and kills the npc's ..

So .. Not sure the answer for that.

Fan girl but...There aren't generally that many npc's in Bethesda games. I'm fine about the money.. Just don't want the few npc's in my game to be randomly dead.

Well if mods are on consoles are going to be anything like PC, you could probably just disable the DLC "mod"

edit for clarification:

Example http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/558712412262359437/536186C1718F01A1DCA7643C988A6BDC3F721B03/'s a random picture I got off the internet for skyrim load order.

if you don't like dawnguard, unchecking dawnguard.esm will effectively disable that DLC

Many mods use the assets from the DLC's whether you like them or not. If you plan to install mods I would install all the DLC just don't play the ones you don't like.

I'm not sure about "uninstalling" separately, but when I start a new Skyrim character, I just uncheck Dawnguard in the Data File menu until I'm ready to deal with it. I'd be surprised if FO4 doesn't work similarly.

Looking at my Oblivion installation on Steam, there's also a Knights.esp listed as a data file. I'd uncheck it before assuming you're "forced" to play it. Unless you're really short of hard drive space, it seems to me that what matters with a Bethesda game is not what installs, but what loads.

There is no launcher on the consoles.. -s- Nothing for me to uncheck.

-edit-

Xbox does have a way of uninstalling KOTN though.

I dont know for Console, but on Steam i own the Season pass of Witcher, u can choose when to install the DLC and u can Uninstall it whatever u want.

Season Pass dont work as Legendary Edition, on a Legendary Edition u install everything together. With the Season Pass u just own everything and u can choose to install it whenever u want and u can uninstall it whatever u want too.
