Do you guys think that there will be trading cards and badges on steam for Fallout 4.
Do you guys think that there will be trading cards and badges on steam for Fallout 4.
All modern AAA games have them so it would be strange if there aren't any.
I do not care for that system at all. But I see no reason why it would not be there.
The system never worked for me since I would have sold the cards but it states I am not allowed to do that or trade or anything. So for me it is no point in collecting them
not all AAA games have them
only the ones where the devs care about steam integration
I really liked the playing cards Obsidian did for the special edition of New Vegas, I would love this for Fallout 4
of course there will be. skyrim has trading cards and bages so why fallout wouldn't have those its a steamworks game on PC.
there will be for sure.. I usually sell the cards i get to add to my wallet (with the exception of games I really like the art style of), which goes towards other games..
granted, the cards won't sell for much in FO4s case.. the more popular the game, the less they sell for due to market saturation.
I find digital trading cards a hilarious concept.
Every time I 'earn' some of those I try to figure out what on earth I'm supposed to do with them. So I have some ... things. So what? Am I supposed to collect them or something? And what if I did get them all for a certain game ... then what? Do I win something? Get an in-game bonus or something? I just can't come up with a purpose for them.
if you collect them all, you trade them in for some "steam experince" that makes your account lvl a tiny bit higher, and an emoticon based on that game
I've had Skyrim and New Vegas since release day and have no idea what trading cards or badges are >.<
they give you account useless "experience points" and game themed emoticons..
better off just selling them in most cases
I didn't know STEAM had account levels. Why? Do I get better price discounts? Or is it more like being a 'Master' on this forum ... basically nothing.
Anyway, I guess I'll get more of those things. How would I sell these things?
yeah.. steam has account levels, the higher the level the more people you can put on your friend list, and the more likely you are to get "trading card booster packs" and the occasional coupon code.. also, the giveaways they have during certain sales usually require you to be above a certain level (the whole "team" thing a few years back made it so those above a certain level had a chance to get games on their wishlist for free if their team won).. levels go up by collecting full sets of trading cards, or depending on how many games you own.
so yeah, better off just selling them in most cases.. as to how, bring up your inventory in steam, click on the card, and to the right you should see something like "sell this card on market" or something along those lines.. how much cards go for varies depending on the popularity of the game.. I have seen some cards go as low as 4 cents, and some as high as 75 cents.
EDIT: with selling the cards i get just by playing a game, as well as some of the ones i got from the "random booster packs", I have been able to add a few really good games into my library from the profits.. FREE GAMEz!
EDIT #2: funny thing is, i have seen alot of people on the steam forums these days posting "I won't buy a game if it doesn't have trading cards or achievements".. I mean seriously, is a game simply being fun not good enough anymore? do you really need (virtually) pointless virtual pictures to enjoy the game itself?
I wonder how long steam will be around?.. I mean, the oldest websites we have right now are only about 20 years old. Steam itself is only 12 years old. In another 30-50 years.. what of now will still exist?
Well with a little STEAM credit I could grab some of those little indy games when they go on sale. I'll have to try that. Thanks.
The point is to collect them until you have a nice number and then sell them and earn a few bucks. Seeing as it does not serve any purpose but give you some completely unessential cosmetic features for Steam, there is nothing to complain about.
Due to the site's importance, if it collapses for some reason than some other company will buy Valve/Steam, transfer the data to their own databases and get a head on in the whatever is the new market.
But what does this even have to do with the topic?
Steam makes billions of dollars, so I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon.
On topic, it is likely that Fallout 4 will have trading cards, since it's another cash cow. Every time people sell those cards on the marketplace, Bethesda and Valve each get a small cut of the sale. It may only be a penny or so per card, but it quickly adds up to another considerable source of income, and it costs them nothing to do it.
It'll be around for centuries prove me wrong
