A civil discussion on Bethesda's effort level

You have proven yourself ineligible to comment on my honesty when you told that you cannot perceive "the tiniest difference", you're the only person to claim such a far-fetched thing when I have seen many that admitted the difference is great.

Well, we know most of the leaked pics so far have been from consoles, using who-knows-what capture techniques and compression. Also, some of the leaked pics the player had their Pipboy light on during the day outside, which screwed up how the lighting looked, and another had motion-blurred shot after shot from combat. So that's some of the difference.

I swear, it seems like some of the people leaking screenshots are trying to troll by intentionally taking them in the worse conditions possible. One person took them before MIP maps loaded in, etc. One person was shooting everything with his phone. :shakehead:

And if Fallout 4 is anything like Skyrim, that means Bethesda has a high-resolution texture pack for the PC - which will need to be downloaded separately. So the leaked "Ultra" PC screenshots are not using the high-res PC textures, because those people don't have access to them yet, so they are using the exact same textures as the consoles at the moment. Just something to think about.

By the way just to add.. Anyone who thinks the speaking animations are satisfactory is very kind to Bethesda. They are very odd. As I mentioned they remind me of the Canadians from south park as far as movement. It appears almost as though they just got wisdom teeth removed and are still numb and sore. The animations might make dialogue distracting.

That's probably the kind of biased mentality that you used to believe the difference is grand.....kind of impossible to see reason when you adopt a "disagreement doesn't count" mentality. I have seen plenty who said exactly what I am saying now and very few(three I believe, including you) claiming the difference is super grand. Most common responses I've seen to the new screenshots ranged from "meh" to "what difference?".

Destiny has great graphics.....How much effort do you think they put into making that game?

You have not played Fallout 4 yet therefore you can't really be judging it.

Before Destiny was released all of the crap they were saying about it lead me to believe that they had been working incredibly hard on it. Then it got released and I realized they had spent more time on money on advertising the game than they did developing it.

I agree with your point, but let's not be hasty. Yes, Battlefront is a fairly simple shooter. But it was never meant to have depth. It is meant to play out battles from Star Wars lore. For it's purpose it is a beautiful thing. The original battlefront was a great game, taken as it was intended.

But ya- I do agree with your point, and think that what I said above is actually part of the problem.
Many people who haven't really been fans of the series are complaining about graphics, here. And just as battlefront was never meant to be about depth, FO was never intended to be about cutting edge graphics. There's a bigger picture that I feel these folks don't see.
What's more, if they were fans of the series, they would know that anyone on PC is going to mod the crap out of this game, anyhow- making complaints about vanilla graphics and textures fairly moot.

I'm afraid the OP is giving birth here the "enthusiasm" of Reddit along with all the flavors of hyperbole and pugilistic anolysis.

...not sure you can have a "civil discussion" when your starting point is "they didn't put effort in." Inflammatory & insulting..... :shakehead:

(And yeah, this whole thing of taking the couple best-looking games of a gen, declaring them the "standard", and then tossing anything that doesn't meet that standard into the "ugh, looks last gen" bin. It's getting old.)

Rather than bias, it's the willingness to adapt one's point in the face of new evidence. Bias is when you witness a new development that changes the situation yet stubbornly refusing to admit it.

Disagreement does count, we disagree with each other. Don't see any point to continue this.

The OP knew it. When he mentioned TW3 I knew right there things weren't going to end well; at best, the discussion would end up going in circles. This is the kind of thread where people become angry for free.

I looked at it very carefully, trying really hard to see what the couple of guys worshiping them were seeing as a great difference. I'm far from refusing reality here....the difference is just not significant.....there will be better side by side comparisons of the game when it's out but this is like the Witcher 3 deja-vu for me.....the Ultra PC settings were basically identical to PS4.

OP you lost me at Reddit. That site is near neck and neck with the Steam community forums for the award of biggest amount of tools and trolls. Not to mention it looking like someone with schizophrenia designed it with how jumbled and unorganized it is.

Sorry, but little there hold any weight with me.

That said... I'm no fan boy of Bethesda/Fallout. I enjoyed the FO franchise and Skyrim (more than the other Elder Scrolls). I don't think anything I've seen for this game is at all concerning. Considering there's been no PC footage. I don't concern myself with poor graphics on a console (which is to be expected).

I'll reserve my judgment and voice concerns after I have played it.

Well, we clearly can't have a civilized discussion.

This isn't the fault of the OP - it's due to the lack of civility and respect from the community here.

So... I guess this thread get's locked.
