Playing before release?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 9:21 pm

I pre-ordered Fallout 4 at a local store and just received a call that their shipment is gonna come in tomorrow and i can pick my copy for the PS4 up at noon.

So can i play it already? Will i get banned?

I mean, i pre-ordered it and paid in full.

I am not going to steal it or anything.

What do i do now?

Sounds like you were dealing with an incompetent employee.... You'll have to wait till Tuesday like everyone else.

If they let you take a copy of the game home, then that's on them, not you. You didn't break any rules. The employee you spoke to may be mistaken, though, so don't get your hopes too high up about getting the game early.

Just sad that some companies probably will break street date. Or some guy will give copies out to his friends the second the shipment comes in. My biggest fear is going to pick up my pipboy edition only to find out it was sold to someone else :/
Probably won't happen though. Personally I would tweet to Pete Hines saying this store is breaking street date, if it is true. As far as I'm aware they are not allowed to do it.

Pre-orders are numbered here.

That way you have a copy of the game assigned to your lot.

That way they know how much to order and no one gets left out.

EDIT: I just happened to have placed a pre-order in full before the E3 announcement, knowing Fallout 4 will eventually be released.

Already confirmed that day 1 patch will be necessary for the game to function on all platforms so getting a disk early means very little.

On PC?

Sure, makes sense.

On Consoles?

Doubt it, or how else do you explain people already playing the game?

Everyone who reads WCCFtech knows people are playing it already.

I play on the PS4 and I got MGS 5 4 days before release, no issues what so ever. If its for PC I believe you will have to wait.

You don't know what you're talking about, that only affects steam copies not console. Which is probably what the OP pre'd.

That's marketing as I can see it. Over here, certain shops having a challange who will release earlier.

Like one shop: Order It now, get it before release (they "ship" by tomorrow). 55 Bucks.

I will get my copy on the 9th. Wich is okay for me, due the fact I paid 60 Bucks for the game + season pass.

Also the shop I ordered from delivers as soon as the stock is available. Wich is usually 1-2 days before official release.

But due the fact it's the PC version, I'll have to wait anyway till steam unlocks ;).

It doesn't matter how you might get an early copy of the game, discussing you intend to play it before release is not allowed.
The game will be available to play on the 10th.
