The "bright ideas" mechanic?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 2:26 pm

So, the pip-poy app released as im sure a few.. Million of you have downloaded.
Yeah, you can only play the demo mode now but ut gives us a few hints and a solid affirmation that those of you who got pipboy edition wont wait months to play with your new toy.

Like.. The bright ideas counter in the stats tab, listed with your kills, hacks and general tally of deeds.. Whats it for? Any ideas?

I imagine its like "persuasions" and "intimidates" but you used intelligence to win the dialog conflict instead of charisma.

It's not a "tab", but I figured out what you meant. It's under Data>Stats>General at the bottom under Cores Ejected. I personally would guess that Bright Ideas is either how many times Idiot Savant has activated for you, but maybe it's something about inventions or a mechanic that hasn't been revealed.

Yeah, I think it could be dialog-related. Or perhaps through learning new things to build through Science-related perks in the crafting system. Or maybe it's it's own side quest, or somehow related to the settlement system?

I am pretty interested to find out...

Hmm the Idiot Savant idea has merit... however if it had to do with inventions and such it'd be under the crafting tab.

Edited to help people find it easier ^_^
Thanku

Yeah.. Im not sure.
I was holding hopes that, since they can make "legendary" enemys appear while you're progressively going through a place, maybe your character thinks of something to help him access something pre-existant or a randomly selected "idea" (which would spawn somewhere in said place) which he could do in order to benefit..
Ah well, we'll find out soon enough

Ah good point, inventions would be crafting-related. But I don't see Idiot Savant anywhere else and I'm sure they'd be tracking how many times it procs since you can see other perks that also randomly proc such as Grim Reaper Sprint and Four Leaf Clover under Combat.

In Fallout 3 and NV you could pickpocket a live grenade into someone's inventory causing death. It was called pants exploded

my bright ideas in FO3:

  • firing MIRV at 10 foot range.
  • trying to box a deathclaw (works in NV)
  • shuttle running loot in an area where talon spawns and I had dropped my main weapons.
  • Jumping off the lighthouse in PL without checking the side and dying.

That's just off the top of my head :P

It could be related to weapon modifications. There might be some combinations that aren't listed or something which would encourage some sort of creativity.

Again then it'd be under crafting.
