What is the size of the correct Fallout 4 preload?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 9:34 pm

NOTE: I'm talking about Xbox One on here.

I did pre-order the game prior to 10/27 and I'm not sure about Instant On power mode so I was wondering what the correct final size should be. Deleting and reinstalling 30GB of data simply isn't a good thing (and folks really should talk to Microsoft about why this continues to happen, they had the same problem with people having to re-download 40-plus GB for Halo 5).

So what file size should we be seeing for the correct preload and what file size is the size of the incorrect stub? Thank you.

Is this for sure? Because I downloaded well before 10/27 and that's my size.

Well, I remember reading that somewhere before I downloaded it as I wanted to ensure I got it all.

I don't have a link for that though.

Alright, that's the number I've had for a couple weeks now and wanted to confirm that wasn't actually the size of the incorrect "Stub" file.

I believe the stub file was 100 megs or some low number like that.

That's good to hear. The stub file for Halo 5 was like 20GB lol.

The INCORRECT stub file can show as being 28.1 GB or whatnot in size. MINE DID.

Unless you have a bandwidth limit, YOUR BEST CALL is to uninstall whatever is on your XB1 and reinstall. ESPECIALLY if your previous file (miraculously) installed in 5 or less minutes. DO NOT wait until Tuesday to fix your issue or you will have no one to blame but yourself, because you read Bethesda's warning! If you have decent internet and it took hours and hours to install, you probably got the right one. If not, take action.

Well you say that like Bethesda's warning is at all comprehensive when they're not saying what the right size is!

You are just being difficult at this point. Go ahead and wait to take action on Tuesday only to find you got the stub and it will take 8+ hours to download the new one.

I know that I wouldn't take that risk if I REALLY want to play the game the day it comes out. You are your own person. I take care of my business.

Uh ... I think you might have read my post wrong?? I took your advice and deleted the game immediately after reading it. Where in the world did I suggest your advice was wrong or bad? Chill the hell out, guy. We're all friends here. I was saying that Bethesda wasn't being clear with things, that's all.

We're not all friends. ;) Bethesda is perfect in all respects! :P We all want to be quick to judgment and critical. My beef (kept to myself until now) was they aren't warning people enough, but now I see that they posted on twitter about it. So they're trying to get the word out.

I wonder if Microsoft gives them the ability to email all XB1 digital pre-orders or if they can segment the list to the people like ourselves who pre-ordered digitally pretty quickly after seeing the "preload" news (on or before 10/27). That would be ideal.

@Paydirt.

I downloaded fallout 4 preorder in about an hour or so. I have just over 100mg download, but was downloading between 85 -95mg. I don't think I downloaded it before the 27th. I think I downloaded it on the 1st of november. If you have a decent connection it shouldn't take hours upon hours to download. Though, that depends what you call decent. From my understanding, even if we downloaded on the 27th or before it should be fine if you had instant power mode on. Maybe bethesda could say a little more on it.

im not sure about england but connection here in NA are sold in MegaBits per second not Megabytes. i have no idea what mg stands for.

i would redownload and time it if you don't have data cap issues.

as far bethesda commenting on it they give MS the master file for download its MS problem if they give you a stub file i don't know why people think that a problem with retail are the devs fault.

My file size says 25.7GB and it took maybe, 4 hours... Could be longer, could be just under.
