That's not bad, actually. I would have expected something much larger.

eh the only downside of breaking a street date is that publishers refuse to "flip the switch" just let the game be sold to everyone

For those of us that bought the PC physical version it'll likely be 22GB.

Remember the good old days when they more or less finished a game before they shipped it? That patch is bigger than many of those games.

You don't know that. Many things could change in the days left before launch.

Like another

Spoiler
patch?
In the next three working days between now and launch? not likely.

Odds are most of the team is taking a 3-4 day weekend so they can be ready to deal with inevitable flood of bugs that will come in launch day.

And todays games are considerably more complex. And bear in mind I have unfavourably compared Beths QA team to a bunch of drunken monkeys previously. Realistically, no one should expect these games to be bug free. It's simply not feasible.

Actually... that is not as true as we'd like to believe. Back then, the games were small, but they still had a heap of bugs, and glitches. At that time, the only way to fix it as to buy a completely new disk or cartridge with a better revision date.

Now, it's just more noticeable because the games are far larger with it's code base and content, that it just tends to be bug prone.
