Want the Pip-Boy Edition?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 10:52 pm

... keep an eye on the Bethesda store maybe Monday or so. I just canceled my order with them after mounting frustrations. They NEVER respond to tickets. I had sent them a ticket asking if my order would be delivered ON release day or later. Nothing. I paid through my teeth in shipping ($28) hoping for the package to get here on the 10th. I'm checking the status of my order and it says this:

Something minor is holding up your order (probably your shipping address). Please double check your shipping information and contact Customer Service so we can get your order out without further delay.

My address is fine, it matches my Paypal confirmed address that I used to pay for this. So I ended up just telling them to cancel the order. So at least one of those pip-boy editions will pop up for you guys later. I'll never buy from the Bethesda store again... that is for sure. They might make some solid games... but they sure as hell can't sell them right.

I believe everyone who bought the Pip-Boy Edition from the Bethesda Store has their order status as "Something minor is holding up your order". It says that because they have not begun to ship them out yet. Pete Hines on Twitter said that they would all be shipped out by Monday with overnight shipping to ensure that they get delivered on Nov 10.

If this is true, then you just cancelled your order unnecessarily.

Regardless of anythign Beth could possbly say, no one can say with any absolute that it would be delivered tuesday or not. Past shipping, it is out of their hands. I don't even know why you'd possibly ask them that? They ship, shipping has issues, all the sudden it's wednesday. But you'd probably still blame Beth for the whole thing LOL

Ha. I used to work in retail.

It's a mantra we used, hoping people would believe it and buy more stuff...

The point of canceling was because of the lack of communication and whether or not I would get it on release day (if I wouldn't get it on release day, then I would have had to buy another copy elsewhere anyway). I did send them a ticket again around the same time of this thread and got this response:

We apologize for the long delay on getting back to you. We are experiencing a high volume of emails.

As of now, your order is on hold pending the release of the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition / PC, which is currently on a pre-sale. Please check the product page for the most up-to-date information, as expected shipping dates are subject to change without notice.

You can also check the current estimated ship date for the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition / PC by clicking on the link below:

http://store.gamesas.com/fallout-4-pip-boy-edition.html

Based on the shipping method that you selected, you will receive your Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition / PC on the release day 11/10/2015. Since we are going to start shipping out the items a few days before the release day.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

That tells me that I should be getting it on time. Not entirely sure how they haven't even started mailing them yet to make that delivery date. Seems like it could lead to some issues if there's even a minor hiccup. I've replied back asking for some clarification on a few things. So maybe my copy wont be quite available after all.

Having worked retail, most video game publishers have it worked out really well in regards to getting the game to people on time. Barring any issues with the actual shipping (out of anyone's control but the shipping carrier) they have it worked to get it to you on the day they say. Honestly I'm shocked they even responded to you. So you're saying if it got there wednesday, you would have went out and bought another copy tuesday?

If it were to be here on Wednesday (I was thinking the earliest would be Thursday based on their website)... then I would have canceled and just gone with a cheap digital copy that would allow me to play Tuesday. My days off are really the only times I get to play and if I was getting it on Thursday then I would have missed out on a lot of game time. The website says the item would not SHIP until 11-10-15. I had picked 2-3 day shipping... which would have meant the order would have gotten to me no earlier than 11-12-15. Maybe even 11-13-15. Nowhere on the site does it mention release date delivery. The response I got in my ticket is the first confirmation in two weeks of asking, whether or not it will be here on release day.

Most sites like Amazon are very up front about exactly when you'll get it. Bethesdas store, not so much.

... did you check your order confirmation E-mail? When I snagged mine, it said "ships on release day". Hell, I think it also said that when I was still going through the orocess of ordering it.

Also remember that Bethesda Store isn't even run by Bethesda LOL. If it was, their customer service might care a bit more. The store is operated by ThinkGeek. I've had relatively decent results from using their ticket system, but reading the Store sub-forums, I think I've been lucky. And not just reading, I have experienced myself how their policies aren't customer-friendly and they won't ever make exceptions to their policies for goodwill or to empathize with understandable issues.
