Hating Fallout 4 and Bethesda

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 11:14 pm

The game isn′t even released and the net seems to be flooded with vitriol for the game and the company. I don′t usually buy games at the release date (TES, Fallout and Civilization being the exception) nor did i ever wait for a game as much as for this one. Leaked infos/vids everywhere, showing the game in an ugly light. Game forums full of people who attack Bethesda- for a game not yet released, and every other rpg they ever made . But what i saw at Steam was just over the top. Literally dozens of threads by mostly the same few trolls with hardcoe game spoilers in the title and no mod in sight- except to lock threads by people requesting, or complaining about the lack of -mod action. It happend to two threads of mine as well, btw. I am constantly wondering, who are these people? Apart from those who maybe were disappointed/didnt like the previous gamesas games and have a never ending urge to correct those who were not/did like them, there are obviously some others at work too. I have a few ideas, feel free to dismiss them and post your own:

1. It′s a brilliant marketing stategy by Bethesda; lower the expectations to surprise people positively once they play the game.

2. The game svcks and anonymous hackers want to warn innocent customers.

3. Russian/chinese hackers hate Fallout, Bethesda or both.

yeahhhh never use steam, those same trolls u saw on Fallout forums are always on other game too, i learn my lesson on the Witcher 3 forum.

For me and from the "personal reviews" i saw and leak post, half the ppl like it and half done. And each and every single person dont like it or like it for personal opinions.

So i guess it will depend on us.

The game will be a hit anyway. Probably will sell more copies that most game this year.

Social media is an anonymous free tool available to the unscrupulous individuals that engage in corporate espionage.

Think about it.

Hate speech is sadly something that people love todo on the net. It has absolutely nothing todo with the subject it is about. It's simply "funny" to hate.

I was confused about all the hate too, then I watched a few days ago a (not so official) live stream from the PC version to make my own impressions of the game. While in the chat on the side the baseless hate was spread over and over again, I saw a great game (admitted not well) played.

Exactly. Everyone takes pleasure in being an idiot over the internet because they'd never take the opportunity to do it to someone's face.

Why would they have to surprise them after the game was bought?
I do not see the incentive for them to provide more than what it takes to sell it.

I think internet allow to ppl hate bc hate. Still if u look u will find good opinions, explaining why they dont like it or why they like it.

It's typical It has happened after Bethesda has launched a game at least since Morrowind. When troll people watching people hype for a game they feel envy and that makes them hate. They would use each opportunity they have to spoil other people fun. That make them feel powerful and special. I feel pity for them

It's actually a scientifically-defined phenomenon officially known as "https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_disinhibition_effect" and colloquially as "G.I.F.T", or "Greater Internet F***wad Theory".

What happens on other forums and websites is none of our concern here. You can discuss problems with Steam on the Steam forum.

It's the internet, and haters gonna hate. Simple as that.
