why is everybody planning for so little agility?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 1:50 am

And with everybody i mean everybody that ive seen...it seems to be one of the dumb stats for a lot of people...i wonder why?

I guess most people want to play without sneaking and without vats? It seems to have so many good combat abilities and so many synergies...

is everybody playing it like a shooter or what are your thoughts cause im quite torn right now?

Because points are scarce at the start. And the way it's set up is, you have 2 very handy perks at 1 and 2 agility (bonus automatic weapon and pistol damage) then you have more specialized/niche skills in the middle, and then more useful perks at the end. So it's best to either heavily invest in agility, or not invest at all, depending on your build

I plan on putting a decent amount of points into it, haven't decided exactly how many yet. In fact, I think I'll be trying a high agility/charisma build, see how that goes for me. I wanted luck as well, but I probably won't have enough points at the start to raise it to any meaningful level.

Personally I never use vats, I prefer aiming in real time so its more about my skill wether I hit or miss. I thought I was a unique snowflake in all this though, I thought everyone else loved vats and its nice to have it as an optional thing. An option most other people will choose but I can ignore.

I usually play stealth characters: assassins, thief, snipers, etc, etc. I assume agility is a vital skill. But we'll see whent he game comes out.

My preliminary build requires a lot of agility (unarmed-ninja/ sniper build). Everyone has their own preferences. thus although agility may be toned down a bit vs FO3/NV (never played FO1 and 2) I think agility is still important enough where it is not an afterthought, sort of speak.

I'm quite the opposite personally, as I plan on using VATS and sneaking heavily as it is my play style. Aiming to start at 8 AGL and definitely plan on reaching 10.

I would suspect the reason people are investing in it less is because of the improved gun play this time around. The shooting mechanics of Fallout 3 and NV were still playable no doubt, but you can't deny they were clunky and far from perfect which made some people more dependent on the VATS mechanic. Now with Fallout 4's more fluid gun play, perhaps VATS has become more of an afterthought for some people. On top of that, not a whole lot of people are into stealth either.

I've always enjoyed it personally, being sort of a call back to how Fallout originally was as a turn-based RPG. Of course they didn't go all out in replicating it exactly, but in the process they created something new and immensely fun to use.

S1, P5, E4, C1, I8, A8, L1 Agility is absolutely essential to have Action Points but those points will be worthless without Perception because your accuracy in VATS depends on Perception kiddies.......so unless you want to do a whole lot of missing your high agility life will depend on a solid perception.

Eh, what I have for Perception is moderate (4), we've got plenty of time to build it up early in the game. I have luck at 6 on my preliminary build, thus some maybe subtracted for Perception, but I am not that involved with VATS versus you either.

This makes perfect sense.

I'll put 3 points into it to pick up stealth, but won't go further initially.

I will go up the tree later but I'm stating with an Intelligence/charisma led build.

Curious how that works for you. It's something I want for a second PC, thus "I got my eye on you" when the game comes out. Hope it's good.

I'll start with 7 agi, sneaky perks will be vital for me. Though I'll probably only take the first rank of sneak itself as the rank 2's trap immunity is not something I want at all. Hope the geck is released soon so I can mod all the extras out of sneak (or combine them all in the last rank)

For me I am putting a lot into intelligence to get the experience boost from the offset. Definately putting a decent amount into agility for VATS alone.

Not bothered about charisma because I'm playing a lone ranger for a while and will delve into settlements once I've done a lot of exploring :)

I don't think a lot of people play stealth characters and don't see it as a vital stat.. Although in this case, a person with an agility of 10 will be better at handling automatic weapons then someone with an agility of 2. I think a lot of people might be confused as to how stats work as well and think they are only for getting to perks and serve no purpose by themselves.

At any rate, I'm playing a thief/sniper character. So my character build is all about perception, agility and intelligence. 2, 5, 2, 3, 6, 7, 3. .. If i can get to level 90 I'll have maxed out my personal character build at 7, 10, 5, 6, 6, 10, 7. A lot of those stats are based on endgame perks that I'll go for after my initial character build though. Bonus crap. However, if I do make it to 90.. I'll have every perk I want.

I'll be using agility,for sure.

A lot of people will be copying other people because they can't think for themselves.

Don't worry what others are doing. Do what you think is right. :)

i assume this will be mostly true for high distance - e.g. sniping with rifle etc...

My strategy will be like this

sneak and shoot the first guy with a pistol (if i have gunfun the first few guys) so i use gunslinger, sneaking, ninja, action boy

then i switch to a melee weapon and sprint towards the remaining guys making use of moving target and blitz

I hope that works out...but this way i utilize pretty much all of agility

looking at skyrim and the past fallout games, playing melee, sneaking etc. has always been the most fun i had...for me playing it as a shooter takes a lot away from the gameplay

so right now im thinking S4, P4, E4, C3, I6, A7, L1 (i know this is one point to many...for spoilery reasons ^^)

I am a hardcoe rp player and I intend use Vats only. But I only use 2 of agility at first fo4 rp reasons. My girl starts as a home wife she is intelligent and charismatic and endurance she had a baby already. But I really don't see her being more than 1 in strength or 2 in agility, she is slim. And she would use only pistols with high chance energy ones and companions
