A bug that worked to my benefit

Post » Sun Jun 13, 2010 3:42 pm

First off, I chose the Jury Rigging perk which I didn't know it combined various types of clothing for repair as well. Well, my Motor-Runner's Helmet was broken so I repaired it with my Roving Trader Hat. When I did that, my inventory showed 2 fully conditioned Roving Trader Hats like this: Roving Trader Hat (2). Where did they come from? It wouldn't let me repair the two Roving Trader Hat's so I dropped one and repaired the one in my inventory with the Motor-Runner's Helmet again to 100% condition. I exited the Pip-Boy and picked up the Rover Trader Hat I dropped. I turned my Pip-Boy back on and BAM, there's my Rover Hat. I didn't lose out on anything. I have my Motor Runner Hat fully conditioned and my Rover hat fully conditioned when actually I shouldn't have that hat at all. I haven't tried this on any other clothing item so I don't know if it works on all or if the Motor Helmet is bugged.

Eh tell us when you can drop Motor-Runners helmet, I think most of us would rather drop it than have it hanging around in our inventory forever being flagged as a quest item that doesn't get removed. I have a 10lb medical supplies bag in my inventory because of a bugged free quest...sad thing is that free quest didn't give me the discount he promised me just the unique weapon

Oh yes, speaking of that my plan was to drop the Motor Runner helmet, but I couldn't so that's when I repaired it. I too have a lot of items that I can't drop due to them being quest items. I don't know why when I've beaten the quests. When I restarted my game I made sure not to pick up that weapons case the fiends are guarding outside of the Sunset Factory. The Omertas quest never mentioned me giving that to them so it was stuck in my inventory.

Things in my inventory I can't drop. Either because I haven't done the quest or I can't:
Cook-Cook's Head
Rocket Souvenir
Mark of Caesar
Vault 22 Cave Door Keycard
Engraved Cigarette Lighter
Counterfeit Passport. (Not that I want to drop that, but it's labeled as a quest item. Am I missing something here?)
Motor-Runner's Helmet
Rebreather

Dude, if the stuff doesn't weigh anything, why complain? And it's not like a couple pounds of extra weight is going to completely drag you down. Get followers and make frequent trips to a safe house and organize your stuff.

I had all that stuff on my first game stuck in my inventory, then when I couldn't find that [censored] Melissa for the Khan quest I got pissed off and restarted now I don't have all that junk. I also this time around didn't pick up that weapons shipment crate by the Fiends. It's not that the stuff weighs anything,it's just cycling thru it all to find the thing you want because all that stuff is crammed together in the misc section of your inv.Very disappointed in this game.

IT DOES WEIGH SOMETHING... the helmet etc... whatever. THe quests are finished.. stop defending this bs. Ultimately, I also am VERY DISAPPOINTED with this game as well. This company is now with EA on my crap list of company's that I will never buy again from.

I am also disappointed with the bugs and to hear they are working on DLC instead of devoting all their assets to fixing the bugs to begin with. :stare: I too would rather be able to drop the bugged quest items because it's just another thing cluttering my inventory that I don't want there. I got around this on the PC version by using the removeitem on the console but unfortunately there is no way around this on the PS3. I just hope they come out with another patch soon...

Quest items have no weight[as a normal feature] the bug is the item not being removed.

You can actually use the medical supplies from that quest, thankfully I had already finished it.

There are quest items in the radioactive town, can't remember the name now, which you can't drop from the inventory which take up 10 weight, NCR radio parts (4) and NCR computer parts (6), they're under miscellaneous. I'm not complaining, just thought it worth mentioning. Giving all quest items no weight would have been preferable in my opinion, I can understand the reason for locking them though.

I've also noticed inventory items acting weird, sometimes if you have 2 identical items fully repaired they show up as 1 in the list.

Quest items DON'T have any weight, those parts may say they have weigh but its a false. Being flagged as a quest item makes them weightless.
Their suppose to unflag after the quest ended and then have the listed weight.

Surprise, surprise. So I guess what your saying then is another glitch? I can't see how to tell if they do or don't have weight, can't be bothered to try and remove everything I'm carrying to find out, so I'll take your word on it.

I'm trying not to be all doom and gloom, there was a funny moment while playing last night when 3 drunk NCR chicks were parting in the fountain on the strip, nice touch I thought.
