My Fault

Well, I lost inspiration in my last one, so I wanted to write this one, which has been sitting in my computer.

My Fault
Mitch looked over the desolate city, watching the flaming intensity of gunfire at every block. He caused this it was no one's fault but his own. He heard the horrible screams of dying civilians as they were either shot by the military, unable to tell which person to shoot, or the Infected, tearing them to shreds or making them one of their own. He began this. He needs to stop it, as it had taken the lives of so many. So many people that had no idea what was to become of them, so many who perished on that fateful day. All his fault. He was liked by none and hated by all. But, the strange thing was that he was no one, he wasn't a person, he wasn't real.

Two Years Before.
"Do you have the results"? Jane asked as she walked by the testing lab."Were not getting anywhere with the data" Mitch said angrily. "Well do it again". "Why the hell are we even doing this, this makes no sense" Mitch said, clearing the table for another experiment. "Just do it" Rick said in a worried voice.

"Rick, Jane, Frank, Mitch and John, I need you" Lab captain Gregory said. They walked into his office, waiting for him. "What the mmmphmnm"! Before Mitch could figure out what was going on, he had a bag over his head and felt drowsy. Mitch realized he couldn't fight it and had himself dragged and quickly passed out.

"What the hell are you talking about", Mitch heard as he regained conscious."I'm talking about Retang Alpha, the virus your team was working on.
Mitch tried to make out where he was, a huge steel room, some tables in the back only a single entrance. No name or symbol marked where he was, only him and his team, and some guys in black suits.

"Let us see if your friend by the name of, o' let's see, Mitch. Mitch sat up straight waiting for a question to pop out of the guy's mouth.

"Do you know what Retang virus is" he said in a cold voice."No, Mitch responded, I don't. The man laughed walking over to one of the tables. "I think you do" he said. He grabbed a vial of purplish liquid, studying it closely.

He grabbed some papers and walked over to Mitch."Look at this" he said. Mitch looked at it confused at first."Wait, no, no, NO!" Mitch stood up, ready to punch the heartless man. "

"So you do know" he said in a happier voice. Mitch grabbed for the vial, but was unable too, as if had been paralyzed."I can't wait to test this", he said.

"You don't know how powerful that stuff really is" As he said that, the guys in suits left the room, leaving the group alone. "What the hell was he talking about". Jane said, in an angry voice.

(I know, alot of dialog, and little information on whats going on. More info will be in the next chapter.)

Chapter 2 Part One
Present Day:

Mitch looked at the military outpost, studying it with intense care. He needed to get in there and kill one of the 10 men that made him like this. He needed revenge, for himself.

Mitch got ready to jump behind a large destroyed truck, about 50 feet from the outpost. He waited for the right time to jump, he had to be precise if he didn't want to be noticed. He glided down, landing almost silently behind the rusted truck. The ruins of Chicago had its toll with destroyed buildings and flaming cars.
Two Years Ago:

"It's nothing Mitch said", knowing that no one believed him. "Yes it is something, now tell me!" Jane said angrily.

"Listen, I'm sorry, but we have to know what it is", Jane said in a kinder voice. He now couldn't hold the information.

"It's a project I worked on about 3 months ago." Retang is a, prototype virus that when infects the host, it kills them"." It than spreads through the body, taking over everything". "The host still thinks he or she is there self, but with major memory loss". "The host now has the ability to withstand a steady stream of bullets for about a minute".
"A supersoildier serum, of some sort", John said.

"Sort of, it was captured from an insane Brotherhood of Steel scientist".

"He was kicked out after trying to give the soldiers it"."He said it would make the troops great, but was exiled when tests on ghouls killed the host.

The door slammed open, a uniformed officer walked quickly toward them. Behind him where two guards in black Power Armor.

Mitch than realized where he was. He was trapped in an Enclave base with his team. He had heard of the Enclave's evil doings and was scared to hell.

"Bring our guests to their rooms, and lock the door", the Officer said sharply.

Mitch stood up, along with the rest of the team, and where escorted to their rooms.

Well, at least Mitch hoped they where their rooms, and not prison cells.

Chapter Two Part Two.

Present Day,

"There he is!, open fire!", bullets flew towards Mitch as he ran towards the guard post.

A guard loaded a missile launcher and let loose a fury of rockets in his direction. A missile exploded on the pavement in front of him, knocking him down blinded momentarily.

"We finally got that son of a [censored]", said a guard as he walked toward the body of Mitch. "This is Richard Othernip of guard post A-94 reporting the main target is down and requesting transport.

Mitch's hands than formed a new shape, a claw like shape. He walked towards the opposite facing guard and plunged his claws into the guards back, tearing through his chest and lifting him from the ground.

"Holy [censored]!" the other guard yelled as he saw what happened to his friend."What in god's name are you", he said in fear.

"Me, I'm not exactly sure, I do know that your going to die next though", Mitch said with a light, almost joking tone.

Mitch decided to let the guard die quickly, and picked up an SMG on the ground. He raised it at the guard and let a stream of bullets fly out and tear into the guard's flesh, killing him almost insistently.

A helicopter's whirring blades appeared above a ruined building and headed towards him.

Mitch ran down the street to avoid him being sighted. He stopped by an old day-care. Broken toys and other things littered the floor.

He was about to turn away when something caught his eye. A kid hiding in the corner, quivering.

He hoped the kid wasn't infected, and opened the door. "Hello, I'm hear to help, it's okay. He heard whimpers coming from the corner and walked towards it.

He placed his hand on the kid's shoulder and saw he was normal. "Where's my mommy and daddy mister" the kid said sadly.

"Don't worry, we'll find them" Mitch said, knowing that his parent's where probably dead.

"For now though, where going to go to a special place with lot's of other kids, toys, and candy", Mitch said, trying to calm down the sad child.

The kid nodded and they walked out of the day-care. First there was one scream, then three, then it seemed if the entire world was screaming.

"Damn it"! Mitch yelled loudly.

"Kid, get inside and cover yourself with something, now!

The child obeyed and Mitch prepared for the upcoming bloodshed.

Is this just a rehash of the game prototype? Because it looks like it. Not that I have a problem with prototype, its a great game, but this is fallout fan fiction.

Hey,

I liked it a lot. I haven't played Prototype - more of an inFamous person myself! - but I think references and influences can really work well. Of course, you should never cross the line between 'being influenced' and 'flat-out copying stuff', but I can't tell but I can see this story happening in the Fallout universe!
