Are dialogues really that bad?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 4:58 pm

The fact that you cant go back and ask a previous topic is what is making this dialogue system bad, the wheel is not an excuse because you could do that in ME games, and TW3 dosent have a wheel but its similar and you can go back too, i hope they patch this.

Just because you save scum doesn't mean everyone else does. I haven't reloaded because I failed a speech check.

Is it failing if it is random or is it just bad game design?
Way I see it I would max out speech to pass persuasion now I just need to reload the save.

Its not random though, it's a % based check based on tour charisma. If it was 50/50 all the time then yeah.

Edit: aren't RPGs meant to be rng based anyway

This wasy take on the phrase as well. I won't be able to play the game for awhile but reading this, it worries me that understanding context might interfere with conversations.

It IS random even of the odds are not 50/50 there are still odds included, the charisma stat just makes that random event to be more likely to fall in your favor.

I agree entirely. Not exactly happy with it.

And this is why the Mass Effect dialogue wheel is horrible. Sure, SOME people interpreted that correctly, but why exactly can't we just get the full line?

Actually, even with this system it is possible to make good dialogues.

The problem is in 10+ hours I only felt involved once in the dialogues, and even in that dialogue I had to savescum for my character to be able to say everything I wanted him to say.

Ha! That's kind of funny, but yeah I can see how the dialog wheel could be a problem. I think when you take regional dialects into consideration the dialog wheel could be an absolute mess for some people. I think the answers are basically positive, negative, neutral, or question for more information if that's any help.

I prefered Fallout 3 ones for many reasons.

The dialogue system is absolutely terrible, not to mention buggy, with sometimes huge pauses between lines, or the PC and NPC speaking simultaneously, or lip-sync simply not working. As for the actual dialogue choices, all too often what you think they mean clash with what the PC says. It just kills the RP experience.

You can use the 1-4 keys instead.

2 hours in and only synch issue was at first meeting with Preston, as well. that is most confusing trying to read ahead with subtitles, but realize the voice is far ahead of the subtitles! LOL

Worse bug I have is with a NPC named kelly if I remember well: she flee during the dialogue which make it stop, and you cannot follow her.
