Avoid the Target Employee Scam with Nuka Colas!

Its actually considered insider trading. Asked a friend of mine who is studying for his law degree and he said "Yeah that could be construed as insider trading based off the fact they knew it was going to sell very well AND what the price was gonna be in-store,"

Wow, I was going to go look for these at some point but glad I didnt waste my time. How about everyone just stops shopping at Target. This isnt the first poor business practice they have exercised.

It has little to do with Target because it happens with almost all major retail chains, I used to work in one. The employees are human just like you, of course they will take the best deal for themselves and their friends and family first. The problem is that whatever restriction that was supposed to be in place was not enforced. Bethesda or whichever company responsible for this marketing idea should have specified that the product cannot be bought my staff but then again when I used to work in a store my colleagues would wait until they got off their shift before taking off the uniform and buying it. Sometimes they put the product in the backroom to reserve for themselves.

Ok so from a former Target Employee stand point, there is nothing in the handbook that forbids employees from buying merchandise in store. Also, if there is no limit on the purchase of said merchandise, employees can buy as much as they want of said merchandise.

However, I believe there is a clause in the employee handbook that does state that buying merchandise in store and then marking it up on ebay can be a write up offense and up to termination.

That being said, it was only in certain stores that still carried Jones Soda. Plus if you find the berry lemonade jones soda, that was the flavor. All you'll need to do after that is find a label maker.

If its really that important to you to get something like this, there are several other sites which make glass bottles. You can request them to actually make the in game Nuka cola bottle from fallout 4, even right down to the cap. You'll just need to fill it and seal it.

Yea it was impossible to get a bottle here. All being sold on ebay. Really the only way to curb the behavior is for sites like ebay to institute a policy prohibiting reselling things like preorders or selling too many of a limited run of collector's items. The retail stores could help out as well by not allowing their employees to purchase items like these in bulk.

Or, Bethesda can start offering things through their website only. Cut out these retailers entirely. I'd rather buy from their store if it means I get their product at the price they set and these vultures can't just preorder something and sell it for double before it's even released. It's ridiculous.

Yeah, it svcks, but with limited promotional items like this It's best to just accept the fact that a few people are going to end up with these things, while the vast majority of other who want them wont be able to get them. That's just the way these things work, and no retailer is going to go through all the hassele of instituting fairness policies for this type of thing just so a few more people have a chance at getting them.

I didn't even know about these things.. but I'm not worried... I'll get mine after the zombie apocalypse happens and I'm scavenging in people's houses for useful stuff.

I'm sure they will make more. Maybe a different flavor though.

Like 90% of the profit from this is being made on the aftermarket.

So if customers want to buy this they can't go to Target, they have to go pay ridiculous prices on Ebay.

Target, Jones Soda, and Bethesda would be stupid not to make more. The demand is high and the production costs are low "it is an existing drink only with a new label".

..And there should be nothing wrong with that; provided they walk in when off duty, and buy off the public shelves like anyone else.

I have worked in retail before and my boss would allow us to do that as well, but was strictly a "1" rule. Meaning we could buy it but ONLY 1, no more. The fact that this wasnt even enforced, Target should have known what was gonna happen. Common sense 101.

And by 1, if it came in the amounts Target "claims" we couldnt even do that. Just had to hope to God there was some when you got off shift.

Classic Supply & Demand. It would serve the scammers and the idiots that paid exorbitant prices to the scammers right if the bottler flooded the market with several million more units so that in the end there really is no collector value.

Well, Target as a whole may have a policy to prevent this, but the managers were in on it, too. Policies don't do much if the people who are supposed to enforce them are actively breaking them. Target apparently needs to fire whatever managers were on duty that let this happen, and the employee's too (they may not be able to afford firing that many people at once, though). They clearly have no control over their managers, and if they never get another exclusive deal with anyone it'll be too soon.

I honestly wish they would. I didn't even want it as a collectors item, I just wanted to drink some Nuka Cola that night while I played Fallout 4.

When I worked at Target you were not allowed to take things off the shelf and buy them later when you had a break. I knew two girls who were fired for hiding clothes for themselves and buying them after their shift ended.

I would absolutely complain to the store or corporate.

In regards to the "cant afford to fire them." For every single job they have, there is at least 10-20 lining up for a chance at snagging that job in this day and age anymore. So if they fired all those employees and managers, the employees could be hired in a matter of days, the managers could even be promoted from current employees which would make only needing more "lower level employees" which is even faster.
