Not really.

Just gives an interesting story if you meet him again.

Nah, he's not important, but a great encounter, nonetheless. Little things like that make the game feel more alive.

And what's better, he gives you a perfect condition suit as a ''gift''. In fact, I actually let Leo live. I just couldn't hurt him... he's too nice.

Uncle Leo is just one of those cool encounters that is fun to achieve with each play-thru. Anybody who kills him must be very cruel.

It's pretty rare to meet someone out in the wastes who is actually nice.

You robbed Uncle Leo? How dare you, he's one of the nicest NPCs in the game! :)

The thing about Bethesda games like FO3 or Oblivion or Morrowind, is that there is not necessarily a "for" for everything. In real life you don't get something from everyone you meet, and not everyone in the world is there to do something with you. So sometimes it's like that in Bethesda games. Somethings are just there, since the world isn't necessarily about your character. And some things are just inexplicable.

Hey, it was a gift! :P Besides, Leo says he was meant to give it to you, anyway. He's only a mutant, as well, after all.

You get another gift at the second encounter.

Too bad in my game Leo spawned near some raiders and was sadly no match for MMM increased spawns.

For me, it seems Leo always spawns outside Smith Casey's Garage. A pretty dangerous area. Though, he's a tough old mutant, and does a pretty good job of helping take out some of the hostiles.

I've never actually come upon Uncle Leo in 4 playthroughs. Hopefully I will do this time around

QFT

Way too many game writers make *everything* revolve around the player. It's definitely one of the draws of Bethesda games that there are things that go on without you.

(This is also why I prefer the MMM mod, where animals and enemies will fight each other, instead of only focusing on the player.)

Uncle Leo, at least for me, is always at a building husk, near the Temple of Union.

He wanders. I've seen him near Minefield, between Megaton and the Super Duper Mart, and near the Chryslus Building.

I laughed when I met him because I remembered the Seinfeld show, his uncle always called people anti-semites when he didn't like them.

His uncle's name was Uncle Leo.

The day after I encountered him I saw the episode where Uncle Leo gets caught shoplifting.
