I Guess I'm Done With FONV...It's Totally Locked UP Now

Well...it's over I guess....I can't get into the strip any more so I can play on no further. Every time I try entering the North Gate my PS3 freezes on the black screen after the load screen closes. Then I have to restart the whole PS3.

I've never played any game on my PS3 that had this happen. I've had games glitch, bug out and freeze on me but I've never had one completely lock up on me in one certain area. This is the most horrible experience I've ever had out of any PS3 game since I got it. I honestly can't believe this garbage ever passed QA.

It's my suspicion that this was never meant to be the final release of the game but instead I think it's beta. Actually, it's not really even good enough to be beta.Anyway, I think this is a beta test and we all were duped into paying $60 (or more) to beta test the damn thing. If you think about it, it's a great way for them to make money for running the public servers and support the game financially while it's being beta tested. We all pay full price for the beta version and then when they patch it to make it what it should have been, after a few weeks/months, they bring out a DLC. It's a great idea for them but we all get the shaft out of the deal. I certainly hope that this dirty, underhanded and unethical scenario is not what was done but I can see no other reason why this game would be released in it's current state. What kind of suicidal developer releases a game that's totally unplayable and tries to pass it off as the final retail version? How do they expect to get any repeat business after this sort of thing?

This is the very first Bethesda game I've ever really been into...I had FO3 but it didn't really capture me like this one and I also had Elder Scrolls: Oblivion but it also failed to impress me...now I'm really wrapped up in FONV and would probably put a lot of hours into it and can't because it's completely broken. It should be illegal for any company to release a product like this that's totally broken and not have to suffer any repercussions. We bought the game and have absolutely no way to recoup our money invested even though it's obviously a manufacturer defect. There's no other business on the American market that's able to do what game makers have done by refusing to refund money on a defective product and it's just disgusting.

Your first glitch[crashing on entering the strip] sounds like the one caused by the Debt Collector quest.

Which can be gotten around by using the monorail.

Ok, everything you've said about the horrible technical quality of this game is true, but before you throw in the towel, why not peruse these forums to see if there's a way around your particular bug? This issue has been addressed numerous times, and you can make The Strip load correctly by equipping the Old Cowboy Hat (purchased at Crimson Caravan) before you enter.

I know this is no excuse, and I agree that having to equip a stupid-looking hat to make The Strip load properly is unacceptable. Bethesda is aware of this bug, and their latest PC patch contained a fix for it (obviously, being a PS3 man, I've no idea if it was successful). That tells me that we should expect a fix for this bug in the coming "comprehensive" patch. Until then, you can play the game if you equip the Old Cowboy Hat.
