Settler assignments!

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 4:29 pm

For the love of god, can we please have an easier way to determine what a settler is assigned to?

I cant remember what job I gave each and every individual settler or what ones are new to the settlement and are still awaiting a job.

Please, this is frustrating!

+1 Yes. And supply lines as well. I love the settlement system, just the jobs and supply lines are a pain in the butt.

I dont even know how to give the settlers jobs, I click them and all I can do is trade with them, my guard towers remain empty.

I dont have the game in front of me at the moment, but if I remember correctly, you have to have the build menu open,
and you will get a button prompt on screen when you walk up to one of your settlers.

This them you have to point to something like the garden, right?

I think all this system terrible, I cant see who is doing what. Actually, all "workshop mode" needs reworw, its really bad and, for PC users, makes little use of the possibilities of the mouse.

Yes, this is the most awkward part of the settlements. On console you have to hold the button in to bring up the workshop menu, find the person and use the command button and then assign the person to a item. All the time hoping you don't lift the item in the air while you are doing it and finding you have to replace it.

And still wondering whether you did assign it correctly....Lol.

Weakness of the new dialogue system, with an FO3 one you could just add an new menu with assignments.

Has assigning npc to gardens any effect? it grows anyway and some was working in it, might be an random idle interaction.

Need to assign someone to an guard post to boost defense.

It does take a moment to figure out, but once you have it, it's fine.

Someone suggested putting hats on the settlers you have assigned jobs too. Doesn't help knowing which job they have but at least you know which people have no job.

So I have been trying to figure this out for 30 minutes. I tried doing what was suggested above by clicking a on a settler with the workshop open and then running to my guard post and pushing a but it just picks up the post?

*edit* nevermind I guess I cannot assign preston to anything.
