Hello folks, I have a weird issue with fallout and really hope you guys can help.

My PC Specs,
Amd 6300 @3.3ghz
16gb RAM
Nvidia 960 4gb.

Orginally my gpu was a hd 6950 but had constant low fps so upgraded to a 960 in a hope to fix this issue, which it hasnt.

When i run fallout on any settings (everything on low or high) in open world I get locked to 15-30fps gameplay, when in enclosed areas like building or small areas I get 60 fps.
No matter what settings I use I get that same FPS. Even on 800x400 res to 1920x1200 even on ultra/ high gives me same fps.

I've checked my CPU usage rarely peaks at 100% usually hits 80%. CPU temps are at a constant 40% so cpu isnt throttling my gpu.

GPU temps are fine and running well on other new games.

What I have done to try fix this issue,
Unlocked the FPS in note document and setting it to 0.
Turned on and OFF Vsync.
Turned shadows from 1028 to 8. (No fps increase)
Use nvidia optimized system.
Vertifed game files and reinstalled the game.

But even with all the changes I still get the same FPS.

Any help would be really appreciated or any advice on what you think could fix this issue.

Read a bit mate. I've made a very similar post just yesterday. I can only tell you that there is no single cure-it-all remedy. For me the only thing that helped was setting the game in windowed borderless mode. I'm at 40-60 fps and never go lower on ultra. In full screen mode I barely get more than 30 fps...

Similar thing happened when I was playing Dying Light with my friends. I had 25-30 fps on ultra. I dc'd from Skype which caused my game to minimize. When I got it back to full screen I had permanent 60 fps without any of the settings going lower than ultra. Wtf?

I've made the original post on my cellphone, let me elaborate a bit. Thing is people with far greater specs than me or you are having same issues, even on lowest possible settings. Thing is the game was not optimized very well. We have to deal with it. All advice you will get is this: Keep your drivers and patches up to date and play the mad scientist. Read some other posts, learn from what people have tried and try to adapt. For me no .ini file changes helped, nor lowering all the vital settings (except them godrays >.>). All I had to do was to run the game in borderless mode... Try it, it might work, it might not. Just don't give up and don't blame your PC, I bet other AAA games will run smoothly

Go to the above location and delete these 2 files ''Fallout4Prefs' and 'Fallout4Prefs'. You wont see the .ini part if you do not have "Show file extensions" enabled.

@OP Your main problem is that you have very little storage space free. Rule of thumb is that you should have a minimum of 10% free space per volume.

You have less than 2% free space. Clearing out space should help.

Also your page file allocation is too high. The default allocation (System Managed) is plenty, which should be around 2.5GB. You have 7GB allocated.

Lack of storage space and high page file allocation is a bad combination.

With a full HDD, a defrag might be in order too, if you don't regularly schedule them.

I have the same problem. Am running the game on

(windows 10 64bit, intel core i5 4440 3.1 ghz, 8 gb ram, 127 gb free hard disk space, nvidia gtx 980ti 6 gb.)

Severe fps drop, audio crash inbetween.
