Companions go home?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 10:44 pm

Is there any way to get a Companion to go home after you've had them travel with you once ... or after they are thrust upon you (Like Cait)? I really don't want them hanging around my settlements and many (like Piper) have a home they can go to. Is there no way to get them to go home?

My current play-through I never did anything with the RR so I may just have to send them there to hang out (with no beds or anything) if I can't send them home.

Thanks.

Have you tried taking them back to where you found them and Dismissing them? That is how we did it in earlier games. You could even dismiss them anywhere in the world and they would make it back to their home base, unless you told them to go to the Lucky 38 when dismissing them.

I think when you dismiss them the menu pops up and you have to select a settlement to send them too. I think. I'll give that a try though.

If you have already dismissed them to one of your settlements, then it's unfortunately impossible to get them to go home again. If you haven't, then backing out of the "which settlement do you want to send them to?" screen will result in them returning to their default home.

So far, this is probably one of the most annoying minor complains I've had with the game. It bugs me to no end that my Piper has abandoned her sister, home, and job to farm at the Castle.

When the menu pops up to select a settlement to send them to (when dismissing), do NOT select a settlement and cancel the menu. You should then get the message that they are returning to their original "home" local.

Good to know I'll try that. I haven't traveled with any companions yet (other than dog) with my new character yet.

:ninja:

The first time you dismiss a character, you get a list of your settlements.

HOWEVER

If you cancel/reverse out [ 'B' on an Xbox]

Then will go back to where you first find them, e.g.

  • Piper: Publick Occurences
  • Hancock: Goodneighbour
  • And so on, at their meeting point...

Of course once you send them somewhere else, cancelling defaults to that new last settlement.

This game has quite a few 'little features' that aren't explained...

Yes it does. And still no freakn' manual for the game.
