Power Armor Uses Too Much Energy

Or Gatling Lasering a Legendary Deathclaw in the glowing seas on Very Hard

I love sprinting and heavy attacking everywhere. I also climb out of the suit in town, after battles, and for minor action

Yeah using VATS every second pretty much destroys Fusion Cores even with 3/3 Nuclear Physicist. As someone who is doing a full PA run, I only mostly use VATS for tough situations (usually have 2 crits banked for Boss/Legendary) and only Sprint if I know I have a lot of cores left and the location is VERY far.

Sure it would make life a lot easier if it was implemented like in FO3, especially for melee/unarmed, but this is kinda interesting and unique I guess. I like the customization/repair aspect but making cores last a tad bit longer for people who don't want to spend 9 INT would be nice.

40+ hours of 24/7 power-armor use. i have 37 cores. i almost never use vats, and do NOT sprint. sprinting uses like 10x the power-per-second compared to normal running. i got nuclear physicist (less power core drain) early in the game.

on a side note: jetpack uses alot of core-energy too.

I have been concentrating on accumulating guns, ammo and learning the crafting system I have 2 power suits I haven't needed them yet level16 now. I plan to use them as little as possible they don't suit my style of play.

Caps giltch is better in that you can get anythig from it, not just cores and ammo.

great concept making the ultimate weapon at your disposal a limited strategic asset and not a tactical constant the 2 problems I have encountered so far without putting much into the individual pieces as far as upgrades go the armor itself does not take the abuse it should & having to use at a minimum 1 fusion core per battle is somewhat lame

lvl 30 i have like 44 power cores + maxed nuclear physics... I've been in my power armor 100% of the time (since level 12 or so?) except when i gotta take a [censored] for obvious reasons... Something about listening to black sabbath iron man and tromping around gets me excited... anyhow.. in the early stages I didn't use VATS too mcuh and seldom ran, it worked wonders in saving those precious little power cores. Now that I'm swimming in caps power cores aren't an issue I even throw them at enemies sometimes for [censored] and giggles. Even if I wasn't swimming in caps.. .like i said... if you dont run or use VATs you can rock it all day long...

.. just do it..

At first I was of the same opinion and pretty disappointed that I wasn't going to get much use out of the armor that's been so iconic to the series but it does change.

At about 40-50 hours in, lvl 33, I now only get out of it to repair. The weapons vendor in my sanctuary settlement sells cores + all those i've found so i'm never below 50 cores.

heh this goes along the same lines as npc wearing a normal clothes and taking forever to kill no matter the weapon used. went to get valentine back and those guys were massive bullet sponges and none of them were wearing armor just normal clothes.

so far all the issues this game has are making it harder and harder to like. They didnt need to make Power armor useless all they really need to do is make the cores semi rare or at the very least give a way to recharge them or even better give US away to either build a more efficiant power armor or something, but they have left this to the modders.

sadly anyone on a console is SOL, because mods won't be coming anytime soon.
