COME ON Bethesda! Another game with short decal draw dist.?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 12:38 pm

Like the topic says COME ON, do I really have to suffer the same story again with this game as with Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim.

Shooting at something more than 5 meters away renders no blood decals?! Really? Its almost 2016 now, surely this cannot be something thats hard to fix. SO DO IT!

Probably hard coded like before so modders can't do crap about it!

Pretty immersion breaking when you crit your enemy and they become pieces, but there is no blood, no bullet decals. Just pieces of meat, looks really pathetic.

PLEASE FIX IT FOR THIS GAME!?

FYI decal render distances aren't something that is "broken" and needs to be "fixed", they're limited for performance. Decals are super expensive in most engines, so they're a common thing that gets the axe pretty fast.

E.g. What would you rather disappears, decals or fog/dustfx?

That's off, my decal distance is quite high...

Are you on PC or console? If you're on PC there's an option within the in-game menu to increase said draw distance. I'm running a GTX780 (so nothing fancy) and can get Ultra settings. Maybe try playing around for a bit until you're happy with it all :)

Cmon guys read before answering.
The issue is not my pc or my settings they are maxxed out. Like I said this issue has been there with this engine since Fallout 3.

To be clear for you. Its not the bloodsplash in the air I am reffering to.
But the blood on the ground, walls and on the targets body. It is not the time the decals stay on ground, that can be fixed with ini tweaking.

But if you shoot at anything at a distance the above mentioned effects dont spawn.

Alexander: Since the decals spawn at close range and dont dissapear when you walk away and go back I do not see what the performance problem would be if they spawn when you shoot at range.

So...You are mad because the blood doesn't stay on the body for the rest of the game??

I just might roll over your toes if you hadn't made me laugh..

Lets work on that now, shall we?

You said:

the blood on the ground, walls and on the targets body.

and

if you shoot at anything at a distance the above mentioned effects don't spawn.

It sounds like you are sniping from afar and by the time you jog over there the effects are no longer there?

How do you know if you are far away, that they have not spawned and disappeared?

In other words, you don't like the fact that you can't see blood spatter on the walls from further than, say, 5 meters?

And this is something that is incredibly, horribly problematic that MUST BE FIXED NOW?

There is a lot of issues that need to be fixed with this game and I do agree that this is far from the most important one. But I still would like to see a fix, not holding my breath for Bethesda though. Like I said it never got fixed with previous titles and the modding scene gave it their best tries to fix it but to no success.

Well sniping is one of the issues for me but also in mid range the game does not spawn blood decals on the ground and no bullet holes on the bodies. I do realize that this might be a none issue for most but for me its a total immersion breaker and something that has been there for many many years now. And its probably not any major work to fix it? Yeah and that smiley sure is special ;)

Ok let me spell it out for you.

Damage decals still use resources on your graphics card to render. The more decals the more work the hardware has to do.

if your on consol, well there your problem.

If your on pc and useing the auto detect settings it not bethesdas fault you have a obsolete p.o.c computer.

We have played the game, and we have answered your question. That you do not like the answer is not our fault

You should not be spelling out anything, you should start with actually reading my posts, mkay?

Are you saying that the decals are less taxing on the system when you kill someone in your close vicinity, walk away and they are still visible from a distance? I have some modding background from F3, F:NW and Skyrim. Have you ever heard of mipmaps btw?

And to be clear for you. I am on PC, everything is on Ultra. Some settings have been further improved altering ini files (the time decals stay visibile for example). Dont speak to me like I am some kind of idiot when you yourself apparently have no clue.

Another issue I have with this game ultra setting should be for the top 1% of computers. So people have something to upgrade over the next two years. But what we got is basically low settings with more brush.
I am only guessing marketing didn't want it looking better than the consoles.

I did read your post.

YOU are complaning that YOU don't see the game engine doing bloodspray and bullet decals beyond 5 m

I'm able to see them through scopes just fine sniping from the roof of corvega to the raider next to one of the trailers.

Based on that I can only conclude that you are running things on low, or that your running the game on a obsolete computer, or that your definition of 5 m is everyone else's definition of 5 km.

There are other more important issues in the game that need to be fixed than your pet peeve about decals. :shakehead:
