It's been http://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-4-preorder-paid-for-with-11-pounds-of-bottle-caps/..

one time deal. Bethesda is no longer accepting bottlecaps as payment

.. and I think he got a standard edition.

Not sure it will even work next time. Try ring pulls for the next installment. I know it's an OG call back to Black Isle, but it may work. Also, they can donate them to Ronald McDonald House for charity.

Also look at the game theorist video about how much caps it would take to buy the game the guy actually bought the game for cheaper then it would have actually cost the amount to actually buy the game was around ten thousend caps I think.

that depends on the inflation and which ratio you're using, 1960's or now. vast difference in the gold to $ value. and steel to $ ratio as well.

Well I believe he said just shipping the bottlecaps cost more than the game.

- I remember reading this, but couldn't find a source to link.

This is what kills me when brick and mortar shops complain about how online shops do not have to collect tax and so they can undercut their price.

15 years ago I could send a body size box (I use to make and sell animated "zombies and such") via UPS for $15. But as of the last decade I have often paid 1/2 to even more for shipping than the item I was buying.

Anyway, that is a good point about other people actually trying to do that again (pay for the game with hundreds of caps). People forget about the shipping costs.

He did, like I said, it depends on which year you're using, it would have cost more during the 1960's, and a lot less today.

Been like that for a while man. Pip Boy editions are pretty much done at this point.
