SMART Conflictions

The best "cover system" sorry to get off topic I've ever seen was in rainbow six. 1st person to 3rd and back. Kind of wish some sort of cover system LITE was implemented in some ways just to keep certain aspects tactical.

REVO speaking of which is there a PEEK OVER option when you're behind cover that compliments the lean buttons or is it better to just use the crouch as a HOLD DOWN button?

Not that i have heard of, but revo is free to correct me.

I was just about to say: I haven't heard or seen any "peek over"-option yet. I know there is leaning on the PC (Q & E or Y & X, I believe), but I am not even sure if that is possible with a gamepad. I didn't try it in the demo, tho. If you want to peek over something, just "uncrouch" and take a quick look.

Furthermore, there is some rudimentary taking-cover assist - when you slide against a wall, your character will sort of lean against it for a moment and face to the side you were tending to look to.

Sorry but for some reason it feels like you are trying to convince me that the SMART system is without faults, but really, nothing is really gonna dispel my worries before I try it out for myself.

I somewhat try to do that, yes. However that's for the reason that I could already experience the SMART system and also see how much the guys at Splash Damage care about this system to work. They have thought it through quite well, it seems.

I've seen a video where the player peeked over the top of an object, but I'm not about to fish through all the vids I have seen to try and find it.

You can lean on the consoles. It was a combination of the ADS button and I believe a certain left/right arrow (I'm not familiar with Xbox controllers and their terminology) On top of that, you have to be near a wall.

This was covered in a vid a while ago. It can't say for sure that they have kept it ingame and if it'll still work like I explained above.

You're really making me think i should pay some attention to the SD forums (go figure). You keep on popping in with the perfect answer from there.

So they actually changed it to a sprint-toggle ... that is interesting.

Yea, I probly wont use the toggle tho, hopefully it can be turned off (Unless releasing forward stops you, then I might use it). I'm used to holding buttons like sprint (Crouch is pretty much the only toggle I'd want to use)

I don't like toggles at all.

Wether it be movement-related or for ADS. Having a toggle is just atrocious because it hinders fast actions.

Except for prone lol. But since there's no prone in Brink... I guess you can choose wether or not you play with toggles.

I do like crouch toggle. I plan to manually do smart so I don't mind the toggle so much.

Borderlands has a sprint toggle, and it works fine. It's not even something I would think of to complain about.

Getting used to it was a bit of a hassle, but you can pick it up in the first hour or so, and after that its fine.

Yes. You only have to click the stick once to sprint. You don't have to hold it down.

I dunno about the 360, but on PC if you pressed the sprint button, you would sprint until you decided to stop moving. Might've just been something they added to PC to help prevent keyboard ghosting.
