Tips for playing a raider?

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2015 1:38 am

i was hoping raiders might be one of the factions in this one, but going to try and RP one anyway, anyone got any tips or ideas? For example any quests or perks or missions or secrets that you can get or do?

Was thinking:
-make a raider like settlement, giving all settlers raider armor
-maybe like some kind of borderlands throne perch at the top of the building to sit on
-after a while cannibal perk and lure settlers with beacon and eat them all up for dins 馃榿
-maybe build some kind of cage to lock settlers in
-says on the loading screen raiders tend to use pipe guns but I'm not a huge fan, but will use some raider armor bits
-raider power armor (but I'm missing left arm for some reason?)
-who would make a good raider companion, strong the bodyguard?

Any idea or tips most welcome, was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this?

Thank you!!!

Well, you basically are a raider already IMO. Just a raider with a purpose. You go around to other "settlements" aka raider safehouses and shoot them and take their stuff. Which is exactly what raiders do. To them, *you* are the raider. Raiders also have to live in shack houses or improvised houses somewhere, just like you do. I don't see a massive difference, it's not like the raiders don't have names, history and do what they do in order to survive. You just don't know or care to know, just like they don't care who you are.

You can walk into any farm and take all their crops without them saying anything, because they don't dare question a guy that carries 15 weapons and a bandoleer with molotov's. You're allowed into Diamond City even if you wear raider armor, because you're not killing anyone of their people at the moment. If you were, you'd be treated exactly like a raider.

There's the spiked wooden poles you can put up at the settlement to give it a more menacing look. Junk fences, appropriate clothing for settlers and you can build it in a messy raider style. The only think missing is a "raider's post" like a guard post, that you could assign settlers to which would provide food (rather than farming). Each raider's post could increase the chance of the next attack being settlers/guards/BOS etc. rather than raiders or mutants (probably in proportion to how much you grow yourself?). That would've been pretty cool.

Maybe getting Cait as a companion and doing quests in Goodneighbor. This is something I've been meaning to try, but want to make a new character for it.

use lots of chems and alcohol.

it would be cool if your settlement had a lot of tech that bos would be the invaders.

I don't seem to be about to copy link on my phone, but there was a thread from a day or two ago called "how do you punish your settlers?"

There's a couple of good (evil) ideas there that made me laugh.

Also, I guess wiping out the existing inhabitants, then setting up a "raider recruitment beacon" (yeah, I know it's really just more settlers). I've not tried this, but I guess it should work.

I really wish they gave us the option to join a raider group, at least in one game. Or start your own. I guess I'll keep hoping.

It would be a nice option. Maybe with enough suggestions we can get them to make a raider dlc.

well i had the BOS attack a settlement of mine before.. it wasnt because of the settlement system though.. but they showed up with 2 vertibirds and power armor at my settlement and started attacking me and my settlement

Spoiler
probably still pissed i blew up the prydwyn ;D

It was just a random attack they sometimes do to you if your their enemy.. ive had vertibirds and BOS paladins ect come after me while i was doing other missions too.. it was just funny that they dropped off people at my settlement and attacked it.. it was a fun battle too.
