Is it just me or is the map really small?

Loved that. Never moved so slowly for so long.

Don't forget original poster that Skyrim's map is artificially large. By that what would take you say 5 minutes in a straight line normally, in Skyrim would take 7 minutes or 10, because of all the zig zags they make. Going up a the mountain you have to turn left, then right, then left again making the straight line longer.

So I believe Fallout is more of a straight line while Skyrim is more zig zagging to get to one end of the map to the other.

To get proper perspective one must compare the amount of outdoor cells. Assuming they are equal in size in all games, that should give somewhat proper answer.

The map is definitely smaller, but you stop a lot more along the way, making the journey feel just as long if not longer.

The F4 map is slightly smaller than Skyrim's, BUT don't forget that a large portion of Skyrim's map was just mountains while in F4 everything can be explored.

It's feeling small right now however I'm only 12 hours in and still exploring the NW section. I feel like I'm getting to locations pretty darn quick but people have told me the density of stuff really picks up the further you get into the game.

Any truth to that?

Boston is incredibly dense. Annoyingly so, in my opinion.

I think the map would have been better with the same amount of content spread across a larger area.

But I don't really mind it all that much.

like i said we just need to wait for the Creation kit to be lunch and we will discover how huge or small the map is.

For me it feel perfect. LOL i think it was small till i got into a chopper for the BoS quest and fly to the airport and saw the map from the sky and the all the areas i didnt explore. After that i never think it was small again
