Who else doesn't use fast travel?

Not sure why I don't like using it, but I just don't? Anyone else?

I always tell myself I am not going to use it but after collecting 100 pipe pistols, I don`t always feel like hoofing back to a vendor so I indulge in fast travel. Cause if I walked back I would most likely find something I would have to pick up and get encumbered then I would need to open my inventory and decide what I was going to toss to make room for the new item I just picked up. It just easier this way.

I stopped using fast travel mainly because I kind of let off the throttle on the main quest line. I was barreling through the main quest line and just using fast travel when I needed to get somewhere in a hurry.

Now that I've built 5 settlement's, I've just been parusing through the Commonwealth, walking around and looting. Plus it's fun to hunt wild Radstag, can't do this if you use fast travel...

I find over use of fast travel breaks immersion. They should provide something like "Fast travel at safe zones" or "every half hour or so" as an option or something.

I mean... I don't want to over use it, but dangle a carrot in front of my nose and I'm going to eat the damn thing. Which invalidates and childish "Just don't use it" comments. And it's just p[lain silly that I can "fast travel" through the glowing sea without anti rads or power armor. At least make me wear the suit first before letting me do that.

I use it quite a bit, but I spend a lot of my time just scavenging too. There are times that I'm in a location and I've maxed out my carry capacity while there's still plenty of junk left to collect, so I'll fast travel back to somewhere where I can deposit all of my junk, and then fast travel back to where I was at. I spend a lot of time just traveling regularly though too. When you fast travel all the time you miss out on a lot of the smaller combat encounters with random raiders and super mutants, and it takes longer to level up. The fast travel system is definitely useful, but it can be overused.

On this PT I haven't touched it once.....

Game feels so much more alive IMO....Yeah I have to do a lot more running to my stash etc but that's ok....It's feels like I'm more part of the world....I view FT as a cheap gimmick now lol...FO NV I was a FT [censored]!!!

If I'm travelling to my base at the Drive in then I fast-travel straight there. If I'm travelling to a specific destination, regardless of whether I've been there before or not, I will fast travel to somewhere close-ish so there's around a minutes wander to where I need to get to.

That said, this morning I did some more of the quest for Cabot where you go with him from his home to somewhere half way across the map. The conversation made it sound like I had to travel with him and couldn't just fast-travel to meet him there... I loved our little jaunt across the Commonwealth! Spotted a couple of things, even in places I thought I had explored, that I had seen before and made a note to go back and re-visit later!

I'm certainly sold on minimal fast-travelling now :)

When you have like 20 settlements you'll find you need to!

If the logical common sense of "just don't use it" is childish, then I never want to grow up if it means becoming so thick headed. Actually, it's kind of childish to give in to every damn whim and then demand those with power to take away you ability to act on those whims. Get your own hand out of a cookie jar if you don't want to keep eating cookies.

And no, fast travel through the glowing sea without rads or power armor is completely legit to someone else. Just. Don't. Use. It.

I only use fast travel for saving a settlement because those are pretty much the only events on a severe time crunch, and since the game is programmed to force a loss even with a turret strapped to every combat armored, combat rifle equipped settler's back simply because I didn't show up with my popcorn, then I have to begrudgingly drop whatever it is I'm doing and show up with my popcorn pronto.

Only on rare occasions.

If I get (lol) a notification that a settlement is under attack I will. (not needed so far)

If I am over-encumbered and need to get back to a settlement to drop off junk or a shop to sell before the meds wear off.

I realise it's 4:30am and I need to be up at 7:30am for work and need a safe place to save. (ok, not so rare  )
