Can Oblivion animations be used in Morrowind?

Or do you have to downgrade them? Oblivion modders made so many great animations mods, it'd be a shame if they can't be used in Morrowind.

Well, the character models in Morrowind are different than Oblivion, so I'm not sure if it would work.

I'm guessing they could if you were able to modify them so that they would conform to the MW animation structure. All I can say is to take an animation and try it out.

They won't be "plug and play," that's for sure.

The bone structure and maybe even the file format are probably so different that it would be a lot of work to adapt them. It might even be less work to animate from scratch.

Even if you can would it not be illegal since it is using animations therefore files from Oblivion in Morrowind?

Yes, but I was talking about fan-made animations.

Yes, but they should be converted. I know only know how to do that in Max. I have converted few custom made animations.

Blender can do this too!!! :) You can bake animations, meaning translating them into simple IPO data, which can be recognised by MW gameengine. Only thing to take care of would be correct naming of bones in some cases.

Anything involving complex creature animations is going to take a boatload of effort.

However, simpler animations, such as flags, dwemer machines, etc. can generally be converted in Blender by importing/exporting. That said, I've found that the import tool doesn't always import Ob animation data properly, so that's not a blanket statement. (For example, Mr. Siika's animated globe screws up seriously in Blender)

I'm hoping this gets fixed, because there are some really nice fan-made Ob animations.
