what was the worst thing your companion ever done?

Post » Fri Dec 04, 2015 9:40 pm

one time in one of my playthroughs i was at the collage in winterhold i just got j'zargo as a companion and i sent lydia back to my home (i think in whiterun).

i soon hear a commotion coming from outside of j'zargo's room, when i came out i saw lydia attacking mages and if i remember right she was out numbered, i was thinking somewhere's along the line of (wtf lydia what are you doing??, because i had here hauling some items i wanted to ether keep or sell later).

what was the worst thing your companion ever done?

Died.... seriously. Lydia died in the middle of a certain Dwemer ruin during MQ... and she had all our loot on her, my PC could not carry what she had and what Lydia had. Plus the fact that that character was rather attached to her.

player.modav CarryWeight 1000 comes in handy at such times (and you can negate it later by player.modav CarryWeight -1000)

ANYWAY, http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/402304273718885337/A07D2E7BE51E253C86F23EB645F98C2DDDBB6737/ is totally disrespectful to the dead.

lol...Well as I was on 360 at the time... it svck's but, that character finished the questline, then went back and looted the dead... and put flowers on her. Brought along another follower to help... with the stuff Lydia had and with the flowers....lol a mound of flowers, dropped one at a time.

That is so sweet  I get really attached to Lyds. If she gets killed, I take her sword and shield and mount them on a weapon plaque to remember her by. I then drop a single red mountain flower by her and mourn. Then....the vengeance. No one kills Lyds and survives. Sometimes I have accidentally killed her myself in battle. When she's on her knee she is very vulnerable to a shout or overreached weapon swing or a shot in the dark. At such times I get very upset and usually have to restart the game...lose everything. I just can't live with the guilt. Please no one say 'it's only a game'. Like any really good story, it can get quite....emotional.

Well ya know it's not like ya can drag them to a grave yard...oh wait, if your outside... you can. ( also console command on pc...) Yes I have dragged a follower all the way to a Grave Yard and placed them nicely at a headstone...with flowers of course.

Spoiling my shots mainly. I don't use companions that often but just about everytime I do they always seem to make a point of getting right in the way when I'm firing an arrow or releasing a spell. Not that bad though since Aela walking around with a giant ice spike through her head or Serana being an (un)-living quiver never gets old.

There's a point during the Dawguard quest line where it's possible to have two followers - Serana and another, in my case Mjoll. Since both are essential, if they get fighting mad at each other, which isn't too unlikely if Serana's using area spells, then they'll fight endlessly. Only way to stop it is to reload.

And of course, with two followers, the chance that any given doorway is blocked becomes doubled.

Getting in your way in combat and taking your attacks, as well as breaking every attempt of stealth is bad enough, we don't need anything worse than that. :P Oh yeah, except when they decide to randomly attack an important quest NPC, you know, just to mess with you.

i've had times with lydia when i would be battling an enemy and she would run in front of me eating one of my arrows or blocking one of my sword swings and she wold tell me to "watch it"!

and i would find myself saying to my monitor "you ran out in front of me lydia"!

Running through a narrow tunnel, in a certain Dwemer ruin, and I came to a sudden stop at a big long drop (back then it was my first time in there). Lydia (it's always her, lol) smacked into the back of me and sent me hurtling down the chasm. I expected death but went splash. Thankfully :D
Since then I've been careful with when and where I run when with a follower. You never know when the next chasm won't be a soft landing :)
I don't bother with followers much anymore. I prefer to loot, steal and pickpocket by myself without an audience :)

I remember Frakas walked through a trap that actually killed my Orc character. All I wanted to do was sneak through a tome of creepy un-dead but instead got spike-walled in the face. :P

What bad/annoying thing DON'T they do? Some of it is my fault, in not being able to predict their actions. Lydia is the QUEEN of blocking doorways. I recommend that you never use her if you plan on sneaking/doing an awesome assassination. She is also awesome at setting off traps. If at all possible, I always tell her to stay put until I figure the trap out. If she gets caught in one of the swinging axes traps, you pretty much have to leave the area to get her back. She gets hacked into a wall and disappears.

I was with Illia one time doing the Galdur's amulet quest. When fighting the three banished, she insisted on getting in the way EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'm a player that saves a lot, and I'll reload if my companion dies. (I'm not like you hardcoe DiD people). Anyway, finally I just had to leave her dead becuase I couldn't defeat these guys because she kept drawing all of my fire. I laid her next to the coffin and tried to make her look as peaceful as possible. That was actually the first time I let a companion die and just stay dead without reloading. I got tired of having to use console commands to recruit her anyway.

Yeah - Lydia is pushy. Doesn't compare anything close to Serana though. If you have her with you, stay away from any high cliffs and such.

I thought the worst thing was when i was talking to the boy in windhelm about the assassination he wants me to do to the lady in riften, and he had his dark brotherhood ritual going on with bloody organs on the floor in a lil circle... Serana drops to her knees and starts eating the offerings on her hands and knees like a dog. THATS pretty bad...
