Hircine's Revenge-Rough Draft

Post » Tue Jun 15, 2010 8:11 am

I have been working on this for a few days now, and as you will read there are a lot of work still needed. I have this posted so I can hear your ideas.

It has been two years since the Oblivion crisis, and there is still no Emperor. The Elder Counsel still runs the Empire, and the providences are still in turmoil. On Morrowind in particular; Ald'ruhn suffered the most damaged and is still being rebuilt from the devastation caused by the Deadra siege machines. Several of the other towns such as Balmora and Vivec received light damaged and have already been repaired. Vivec and the Nerevarine are still missing, and so is the Champion.

Although our story rests in the providence of Morrowind, it does not rest anywhere on the main land. Our story begins on the large island of Solstheim. For some reason Solstheim was untouched by the events of Oblivion, and now we learn why.

The Deadra Prince Hircine, who has a strong influence on the island, protected it from Dagon's assault. Hircine did this because he was preparing his own assault on the island. Hircine's pride was broken several years ago when an adventure arrived on the island and bested him at his own Trials. Not only did this adventurer best Hircine, he saved every one of Hircine's prisoners.

Hircine spent his time brooding and devising a plan to get his revenge on the world of the living. He spent the last few years building up his minions are preparing for his time. Now is his time to attack, and his assault would begin at the Skaal village, which had grown in power since the events of the Bloodmoon. The Skaal where now the leading power of the island, and Hircine believed that crushing the Skaal would ease his fight with the Legion.

You are a group of adventures who answer the call of Raven Rock, a colony of the East Empire Trading company. All you know is that the wild life has been encroaching on the colony and you have been hired to discover why?

:whisper: I think you mean "province"... "providence" means something entirely different. [/nitpicky detail]

I can't see anything particularly wrong with the RP. It has a backstory that works very well with what we know about the situation from Oblivion rumors.

So far, though, it's not very interesting. I've seen a lot of "# years after the Oblivion Crisis [Insert Daedric Prince here] invades Tamriel and you are a group of adventurers that have to stop them!" RPs.

The Solstiem element helps a bit, simply because I have memories of Solstiem that make me attached to it as a player... but perhaps you can add a little something else to make your RP a bit more unique. Some ideas for how you could do that:

--Make the situation at Raven Rock more complex. Isn't that the settlement that went backrupt? Perhaps there's embezzlement or an underpaid workforce there that could add to the tension.
--Add another plot twist. What if the ship full of adventurers was blown off course and crashed in the wilds? What if someone at the settlement had been identified as helping Hircine, but no one knew who
--Add specific interesting NPCs. Is the guy who summoned the adventurers really hiring them for what they think he is? Who's leading the local Legion outpost these days?
--Include those racial tensions that made Solstiem so divided between Nordic and Imperial influences.

...or whatever else you want to make the situation a bit more complex than "fight lots of Daedra/solve the mystery/acquire the Object of Power so that you can banish [See Above Daedric Prince] back to Oblivion!". Then again, I might just be too jaded for my own good. :P

I would join this, the backstory is great and all. But I've never played Morrowind or understood the story of it.
Sorry :(. Don't see why people wouldn't join this though :)

Oh wow, I love morrowind RPs and I expecially love ones that involve Hircine. I would love to join this but I have a question, can we play as a werewolf? Because I find playing as vampries and werewolves so much more fulfilling than humans/elves/beast races. And playing a werewolf especially when Hircine is concerned could be very fun :D

I can't help but feel... compelled to join any RP that has to do with Hircine, Werewolves, or Solstheim. You can DEFINITELY count me in on this one!

I stand generally corrected. Ah well, I'm pretty picky, anyway. :D

Well, I have seen RPs that had, for lack of a better word, really crappy stories, but the characters made them amazing! As long as the characters that pop up are good, I'm confident that any RP can be awesome :3

BSparrow, everything you wrote was helpful. To answer your question with Raven Rock, the player had the choice to cause it to go bankrupt or cause it to thrive into a well established.

I did not realize there would be interest this quick in the story, so I am going to re-work the story and add some NPCs in the background. To answer the question on if you can play as werewolves; I do not have an answer at the moment. I am working with that idea now, because Hircine's lore says his minions are werewolf's and not deadra http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Hircine Like I said I can not give a yes or no answer to that.

Indeed, it is a small twist on a well used idea. I suggest another twist or two just to make things more interesting than "Oh noes, more Daedra!" Perhaps if Vivec wanted to restore the people's faith in him, even though he lost most of his powers, he should still have some CHIM left (don't ask me anything about CHIM, and the lore forum is hardly helpful on the subject either :meh:) Just throwing some stuff out, the more happening the better (of course, too much can be a bad thing)
