What's your favorite armor setup?

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2015 9:15 am

Hey everyone,

I'm starting to play around with armor a bit more finally after about 85 hours of game time. I've been using either the helmeted cage armor, or the cage armor with an assault gas mask for most of this time. I've got tons of armor that's been salvaged over all this time, and I'm just starting to dig into it.

What has everyone found to be their favorite all around armor combination? Are you using full suits or individual pieces? I'm not really talking about power armor here as such, but it's definitely relevant.

Throughout the game so far, its just been the usual Road Leathers with different shadowed armor pieces. Primarily a mix between combat and leather. Two combat arm pieces and the rest is leather. Not too fond of the other combat armor pieces that are too bulky for my taste. On top of that, my character wears the gas mask with goggles a majority of the time when wandering. Just looks like this full on black outfit that fits the stealth play style. I'll edit in a pic of it later.

Although there is another outfit called the Courser uniform that you can apparently get later on that I'm interested in. Might look good with the gas mask with goggles.

I rock polymer combat armor over road leathers, with a sea captain's hat and cop shades. Looks an awful lot like an Imperial Guard Officer from Warhammer 40K. When I'm just hangin' out doing settlement stuff I wear an Atom Cats jacket and cop shades. Looks very biker-ish with my long hair and handlebar moustache.

In PA I use X-01 arms and legs, a T51 torso, and T60 helmet. The torso and limbs are painted hotrod flames red, with a winterized helmet. It really "pops" visually.

I also stash a couple powered-up suits of PA at my larger settlements for civilians to use in emergencies (like a radroach milling around near the gate). These suits consist of T60 arms (Atom Cats paint), T60 legs (hotrod flames paint) and helmet (BoS paint), and either a T60 (BoS) or T45 (minuteman) torso. This piece/paint combo looks absolutely badassed IMHO.

I use the vault suit with heavy combat armor. Silver Shroud hat unless I'm about to pick up some rads then I switch to the assault mask. The set is good against all damage types except poison.

I went from mid upgraded combat armor over Bo's then Kellogg's, the general outfit , then shroud, then bf and legendary pieces. Generals hat. I got chameleon, plus ten speed, minus ten ap, and two others probably some damage resistance.

I started with Road Leathers and leather armor. When the BoS arrived I switched to BoS uniform with combat armor. Now I and most companions wear armored courser uniforms with Military Caps. We look like we are straight out of Syndicate (the good ones).

I'm very sad that there are no shorts for males because that's what I usually wear. I don't like the boring Trenchcoat/MadMax/I'm-so-cool-with-my-sunglasses/I-need-boots-to-be-a-man outfits. I wear harness trousers, combat armor briast, combat arm armor and a kevlar "Fritz" army helmet. No leg armor because I need to be agile. When I use power armor I wear my underwear which creates exciting combat situations when I left the power armor behind to explore more lightly or sneak in buildings. ;)

Currently, I'm enjoying heavy combat armor over armored army fatigues. My character was a soldier before he was frozen, and became one after because he figured the Brotherhood of Steel offered his best chance to take the fight to the Institute and find his son.

It's hard to ignore several tons of righteous armored anger kicking in your door.

Currently upgraded vault suit of course, with combat armor pieces equipped and ushanka hat, not that it matters because I'm always in Power Armor

My stealth/sniper rocks the BOS Officer Uniform (a black bodysuit: always a great-looking cliche) and all Shadowed armor pieces. She wears a mix of Leather and Combat armor; right arm, chestpiece and left leg are all standard leather. Left arm and right leg are combat armor. It looks pretty badass honestly, and a lot sleeker than if she was wearing all leather or all combat armor, which is the look I was going for.

Anything with an Asbestos-Lined Chest. I make a bunch of molotov cocktails, run in screaming obscenities and set myself on fire punching people to death. Good times.

Silver shadow suit and a gas mask goggle combo...or the mascot head, depending on my mood.

With this primarily stealth-focused character I've been playing, it has mostly been shadowed combat armor over military fatigues since the early levels. Nearly every armor piece currently offers some special bonus in addition to the defenses it provides. I hadn't realized I could additionally armor the fatigues though, so I'll likely seek out that option when it becomes available.

i'v recently started wearing a leather coat (i think it's called, it's got the green muffler) and an assault gasmask or a clean stripped suit, fashionable glasses and whatever hat catches my fancy for the day (usually a trilby or my wide range of fedoras), as a thief i usually don't need protection so i go for looks

BOS Officer uniform with shadowed combat armour. But, if me and nick go about some duties it's the full silver shroud outfit. To look all noir and stuff :)

First play through: I wore BoS hunter green uniform (had to get it off a dead soldier), along with full combat armor (though it all looked white), it was pretty cool.

On the second play through: I wear an Army Uniform (same as Military Uniform but not damaged), and a Newsboy cap (just upgraded this stuff yesterday), was wearing the vault suit for the longest time. After playing with a different faction for a bit I learned about "Ballistic Weave" and for some lame reason you can mod the Army Uniform and Newsboy cap (yes, both of them), and then wear combat armor or whatever else pleases you. Armor pieces are some legendary stuff that boosts luck, AP refresh speed, and int. It's a mix of Synth, Metal, Leather and combat armor. Looks terrible, but I like the perks.

I used military Fatigues with leather pieces until I got the Courser Uniform, still wearing it at lvl 46.

Gunna have to try this, I wanna make a character based on Furiosa from the new mad max movie. That set-up with the leather armour sounds perfect!

I like the courser outfit too. I'm gunna wear that and give piper the BOS officer outfit so we look like Neo and trinity.

Heavy Combat Armor chest, legs, and arms (all polymer) with a red/white flight helmet and BoS Uniform. I look like a generic space marine from a B rated sci fi film, kind of like the infamous Starship Troopers armor that was used in like 6 other movies/shows.
