When Should I Use Pickup S.P.E.C.I.A.L Bobble heads?

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2015 11:38 am

Hi Guys, i have just installed Fo4 on the pc, and am about to start for the first time. I have read some conflicting information on when is the best time to collect the bobble heads that give you extra stats.

I head it is best to wait till you have 10 stat then you can get 11?

I have also heard best to get early?

I am just confused and would like to do it the best way as to not gimp my character.

Thanks Guys

Either way is fine, the additional point you get if you are maxed at 10 will give you tangible benefits(you will get more experience with intelligence 11 than 10 for example), but it isn't a necessity since being at 11 won't offer you any more perks. It will simply make your character even more slightly op.

I personally just grabbed them as I saw them as the benefits you'd get from holding off on them is rather offset by the amount of time you'd have to put in to max out all 7 special stats.

There is no perfect time as there is no level cap or skills anymore. Those where the only reasons why you would want them early in previous games.

Bumping up specials only increases your passive benefits with that stat. Such as more XP with intelligence or more carry weight and melee/unarmed damage with strength.

IF and only IF you're into min-maxing your stats should you hold off on getting bobbleheads. You'll want to wait until you get 10 points in any one of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L attributes before picking up a bobble head to get 11 in that particular stat.

If you're not into that, then it's as you find them.

I grab them as soon as I see them, because they are in some really out of the way places.

Ok thanks guys, for min maxing purposes i think i will wait.

Also, the S.P.E.C.I.A.L book in the baby's room, if i wanted to min/max, would i leave that also or just grab it?

The SPECIAL book cannot increase a stat above 10

I don't recommend it for an initial playthrough, but if you want to build a god character an easy way to have an immediate god toon is to use the dogmeat dupe glitch with the special book. It won't make any stat above 10, but you can max out all 7 stats to 10 within your first level and then immediately go bobblehead hunting for your 11's. That method will allow you to get a completely op character that is straight up the god of the wasteland.
