Should you be able to name your saves

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2015 10:52 am

This is something that I feel is a must and should absolutely be added to the game (it cant be to hard to add can it?). And sure I may be a little biased since I accidentally deleted my main save thinking it was a different one and had to start my whole game over but I still think it should be in the game regardless.

I can't imagine anybody answering this question with any answer but "Yes."

Yes. This should be pretty basic in a AAA game these days.

The game already separates saves by characters. At least now me and my brother are no longer playing the "don't save over my file [censored]" game with each other.

Well ,technically there is a way. You can type "save MyNewSaveExample" into the console. I think it may mess up the character sorting (only shows under all saves), but the game still seems to know what character it belongs to regardless (it won't overwrite another character's save).

The ability to make a named save has been present since Fallout 3 if not longer.
In the console, "save "Some Savename here" 0 or 1.
save "My save" 0

Setting the last to 1 also makes it dump a sheet with item and npc references as well as the save into a text file.

Yes please. Although I didn't know it separated saves by character. I'd avoided making an alternate character because you can't name saves.

The game shows a small screenshot on your save, I just make regularly saves at a single place per character and I know from a quick glance down the save list which character it is for.

They separated saves by character name this time which is great...would've loved that in Skyrim with my 12 active characters.

Postcard saves help, go in third person, look at the screen and wear equipment relevant to where you're at, making sure to get something familiar in the shot and it's easy to know what's what and where you're at.

I don't care too much about having to name them myself, but I would like the autosaves to be named just like the quicksave, because it's hard to tell which is a autosave and which is a manual one.

So true! I'm really just chuffed this feature has finally been added. Naming individual saves would be nice though, I have one I'm saving where a vertibird turns up and has this epic firefight with some supermutants.

Edit - typo due to sausage fingers.

Now that it sorts saves after characters i really don't miss this function, but more options is always nice. So add it! ADD IT!

I don't really care. I would personally gain no benefit from the feature, and I absolutely HATE when games force me to name saves, which is often (but not always) the case when they let you name saves.

All I want or need is separate character profiles. It seems as though FO4 may have that, though I've only made a single character so far.

None of the poll options fit my position, but "No" was closest.

What they SHOULD do is make all weapons and armor/clothing renamable.

I wish I could, I'm on the ps4 & my saves look a total mess. I'd like some sort of order plus tag saves which are important to me by naming them.

It should be noted that this is only of any practical use for PC players, and thus is not something that will likely be added to the game. Not saying I wouldn't use the feature, but it's not something you patch into a game after release.

This. I hate not being to name save files. Even it's the basic form I've used since my early days with Sierra games....rob1, rob2, rob3....because me, my brother, and my dad would use the same machine to play we didn't want our savefiles being mixed up with each other by calling it "So-and-so mission/level/plaent".

It would obviously be nice, although there are worse things wrong with the world.
