Here's a little trick you can try with vats that I've been doing since FO3..but is way better now that free aim is much improved in FO4..maybe you know it, maybe not..

So you see an enemy far off and hit vats, but to your disappointment you only have a 10% chance to hit, and your critical meter is empty...well, exit vats, immediately aim down sights/scope and fire, you will be aimed on the target and get a hit..

This also works inside as well for tough to spot enemies with obstacles all around..

Just something for ya to play around with and try out..

There's a mod to remove this, I find it's not very nice thing to do. I might fall back on it inside, say, Corvega where my FPS is about 20 :/

It does work...mostly, especially if you close enough to use an automatic.

I do this when pulling off far pistol shots where I can barely see my target.

I do this when my AP is gone sometimes, if it is a particularly difficult foe. I'm a terrible shot, so this helps with the aim a bit. Assuming the enemy isn't so fast that they have moved before you even have a chance to make an aimed or hip fire shot.

Yea some of these enemies can strafe better than an nfl safety..
